Ignore the antagonism, there is some information that's useful in amongst it, at least - we all have things that trigger concerns based on our experiences, and yours isn't particularly unique, and if it makes you feel any better, nor are the experiences that result in those concerns. Human beings are naturally pre-disposed to look for patterns and assign meaning to them, even if none truly exists (for example, a couple of years ago, I actually had a spate of problematic buyers who all had the same name in their username - they were absolutely different people, but I started to get wary of anyone who had that name in their eBay ID or as their real name Smiley LOL ).

ebay used to delete dormant accounts (which I know because they sent me emails about the one I once created specifically for the forum and then never used - can't remember how long it took, I created it in 2011 and my last email from them on that account is dated 2016), but with the ability for anyone to use eBay as a guest, feedback or experience using eBay (or lack thereof) generally won't indicate anyone's trustworthiness these days.

Re: 0 feedback buyers

I understand your concern.

To me, a sale of $130 is a fairly big sale, you certainly wouldn't want to lose that amount of money. It's a big enough ticket item.

I guess we all have different spending patterns but on ebay, my usual purchases are in the low range up to maybe the $30's and if i spend over $100, that's an item that would be important to me. I spend much more on some other sites but if i am honest, it is because I have full confidence in those sites.

Ebay can be a bit riskier, for buyer and seller.

If it is any consolation, the last time my sister & I sold a few things off just a couple of years or so ago, we had trouble with 2 buyers and both of those had fairly high feedback scores. One was a very experienced seller/buyer who gave us the run around and was able to work the system so he didn't pay but we couldn't give him a non payment strike. The other person gave trouble from the outset. Some of our sales to lower feedback score people went better.

So the feedback score isn't a total indicator. However, a person with zero feedback hasn't got much to lose.

Good luck with this one, please let us know how it goes. And I hope that other zero feedback buyer is a bit clueless and doesn't make trouble for you after you have declined the return. They probably thought it would be easy and have been surprised they might have to give evidence.

But will you be back to to apologise to the buyer if all goes well.

The buyer probably isn't on these forums.Smiley Happy

Seriously though, a seller (or buyer) should never have to apologise for voicing a concern or worry if they notice something that seems like a bit of a red flag. In this case, it wasn't just that the person was a zero feedbacker, but also that the person has had that account for over 4 years and has now used it to make what is a reasonably expensive first purchase.

Hopefully it will all go well.

Re: 0 feedback buyers

i sent the item with 'signed for' so its supposed to be delivered to an actual person not just left 'in a safe place'

cost an extra $3 but its better than nothing

That's good, although I am personally finding that a lot of my purchases that are supposedly 'signed for' have sometimes just been left at my front door.

Our postie is marvellous and will always ring or leave a card.

But the bigger parcels are delivered by other staff or couriers. Most are also good but I was staggered the other night to find a fair sized parcel at the front door. We had never been out and have an effective door bell and sitting out there in the front garden was package worth a couple of hundred dollars. Similar yesterday although we were out. Came home to 2 large parcels left there. Just lucky we live in a quiet court.

Re: 0 feedback buyers

good old australia post have failed to scan this item on its travels

its had no update since i sent it from my local PO

the other 2 parcels i posted at the same time, both had full tracking showing from day 1

one has been delivered the other is moving along

luckily i chose 'signed for' on the 0 feedback guy

when i check the tracking although there is no update beyond aust post saying they have it, i do see the message

"Signature required

If nobody's home, it will be taken to a local Post Office for you to collect."

which is good, i think.

Re: 0 feedback buyers

I am also sick of (0) feedback buyer Bidding and not paying.Esspecially during school holidays this happens. They think its a game.

I give them 4 days to pay then cancel sale and block them.Unfortunatly more follow.

Re: 0 feedback buyers

"cancel the sale"  is quite the wrong thing to do.    It may gain you a defect, and does not punish the non-paying buyer.  You need to open an unpaid dispute.

You still need to be careful, I had few 'zero feedback' buyers come straight for my items as soon as they open new ebay account. I had few 'rare' unused item listings not available from other sellers and value of these items would be worth something as they were bought by me over 20 years ago in the 1990's and unused rare availability. Once I refused to reply to their offers, they would close their account not buying from anyone else and become 'Unregistered user' soon after.
