150 free listings?????????????????????

I got an email today offering 150 free listings until 12th May, this was sent to a new ID I set up last week. It said as I had been selling a lot here is a reward. This ID has sold nothing and is resticted to 30 listings per month??????????????????? What the hell good are 150 listings goping to do for me??????????????????

And this is after they said on Thursday they would not increase my limit because I was breaking Ebay rules.

I tried to get them on my other ID's and, of course, it was by invitation only.

Anyone got a brick wall I can borrow?

I do find it amusing that any regular poster on these boards can be so gung-ho that to access free listings of any type, one must receive an email invitation.

Small things amuse small minds.

Promos that state they are 'available from the time you accept them',

or 'avaliable from the date of this email'

most likely are not any good for those who didn't receive the email

Regular posters know that as well.   But try if you must

Your post demonstrates that you continue to ignore the fact that many sellers are able to access free listings from time to time without receiving an email invite.

I would estimate that for at least 30% of the free listings that I have been able to access over the past couple of years, I have not received an email invitation.  An then another 20% at least, when the invite came well after the free listings have started.

If I took the advice of yourself and that of sheep, I would potentially miss out on having the opportunity to access 1,000s of free listings.

Not a small thing.

Re: 150 free listings?????????????????????

Hey folks, let's not all end up holidaying in e-bali over this.

But some time back (maybe about a year or so) when a link was posted that clearly stated invitation only and several of us accepted from the link posted, you may remember there was talk we might end up being charged ??  Myself and several others rang CS to clarify and were told definitely not, if you were able to accept the link, and it appeared in you SMP Summary, all was ok.  So I think there are many members who possibly remember that and at least try the links - I always do if they are for stores, haha, so haven't for a long time, well not since January.  I very occasionally received an email, but in most instances the link was on the boards l o n g before the email ever showed up, so I used the link more often than the email and never had a problem.  By memory every link posted, even though it stated 'By Invitation Only' still worked.

At the time I phoned, I was told there must be a technical issue & they were going to alert the relevant dept. so perhaps eBay have have now after considerable time fixed the problem ?

PS  I'm also pretty sure these & similar offers always say by invitation only don't they - I can honestly say I think I've never seen one that doesn't

Edit  : Slow typer at the best of times, but having keyboard issues at the moment making me even slower - 8 minutes behind you cats, lol - but I have had the same experience as you with freebies

Read my post again, then, cats

If the email is prefaced with this, then it is different.

The ones that specify dates i.e. from  3/5 to 9/5, for instance,  are the links

that work -  without receiving the email

Advice is just that - advice.    You don't have to take it - it's not compulsory

Well of course I don't take your advice - that is a given at any time.

But if I had, I would have missed out on signing up for thousands of free listings over the past few years.

Re: 150 free listings?????????????????????

To date, I have never yet received an email offering free listings.  I always access the links in the forums, and only on two occasions have I been met with the Invitation only rejection message.  Quite a lot of the successful links also said invitation only, but still worked for me, so it never hurts to share and let people see for themselves.

Cheers,

Penny

Re: 150 free listings?????????????????????

If you'd bothered to read my post and not just skim it, you would have seen the part where I said these ones are different to the regular promotions that anyone can take advantage of. I guessed you missed that bit.

These ones are no different to the promotions where someone is sent an offer for 3 completely fee free listings. No listing fees, no FVF's (or reduced FVF's in my case). They are also not accessible to everyone.

Special promotions like this can be for stores or non stores as opposed to the regular promotions that are specifically for one or the other.

Not sure which part of that is hard to understand.

I did not miss anything.

Do you work for eBay ?  If you do not, how on earth do you know if the links will work or not ?  You do not know that another poster or lurker is not an invitee.

If others want to try the links, why do others have such a problem with that.  Leave em to it.

If it is as you post, then they won't work .... so what they won't work.

But if they do, for even just one person .... fantastic !!

I am not sure what three free listings has to do with it ?   I don't get them on any account as some of my IDs are listed as business accounts, so I do not have access to the relists even on my personal accounts as my accounts are linked, including a number where I sell similar types of goods.

Sorry folks, I'm going a bit off topic here, but I'm furious regarding cats comments re 3 Free Re-Listings !  Not furious at you cats, furious at CS !  I have just gone through the process of creating a second ID (additional email address, blah, blah, blah) after spending close to 2 hours on the phone to CS yesterday (not just about this, also regarding a defect removal & that was a joke !).

Explained my account is set up as a Business account (which cannot be changed), so I wanted to start another ID (non-store at this stage) to get the benefit of the 3 Free Re-Listings and to sell just one category of the items I currently sell plus some specialty items.  Not once was I told I would not be able to sell the same or similar items & having set up the new ID, I have not seen any advice/prompt telling me that either.  What I was told by CS, was to be aware the 3 Free Auto Re-Lists only works until you have made your 100th sale !  Same old same old, I ran into so much trouble when I first started selling by taking advice/information from CS, I should have known better second time around !!!   How pathetic - I am such a fool, soooooo angry right now and I haven't even listed my first item, lol

Sorry to be off topic AGAIN !, but cats, I linked my accounts so I could use the one Papal account for both, do you, or does anybody else know, if I unlink them and open a second paypal account would that get around the hang up of having one account Business account ?  Just a thought . . . . . . . and would appreciate any advice.  Clearly there's no point asking CS

Re: 150 free listings?????????????????????

Sorry not that I know of.

AFAIK eBay does the determination of who is who and what is linked.

But I am not sure if this is the case, if if is an automated and/or universal process or if it just occurs in an adhoc way.

If you opening an account just to get around your business accounts limits - then I imagine that could possibly be against the rules too.  I opened other accounts to either buy, sell a few household items not related to my business activities at all or to trial different markets or a different selling format.

Sorry Cat Sad
