Addicted to Selling Manager

Hi group. I am addicted to Selling Manager. There is just a constant need to refresh to see if anyone has checked out my listings... or if there are any new watchers... or any bidders... is my title right? Oh, there's an error in the listing, better fix it... why won't anyone bid? Let's see if changing the duration will help, or maybe the price, no it's too low... but I don't want it to sell for that low... but I want it to sell... why isn't anyone even viewing the auctions? Wonder if my results are even showing up. Do the eBuyers hate me? Screw them! No... I will stick it out... and so on and so forth.

Think I'm going to do 1 day auctions at what I consider the peak day, once all of these finish. Honestly, when no one is bidding or caring about the auctions, it just seems to disheartening and it's way too addictive to keep checking back. It's amazing how some sellers do so well. I really wish I could have their success but it don't come easy.

Re: Addicted to Selling Manager

For what it's worth, I think valid points have been made from both sides of the argument.

Personally, I think it would be ridiculous for someone to neg a seller for updating a listing that they had placed a snipe for and won simply because they hadn't re-checked the listing at any stage and taken note of said updates. Buyers should be aware that this can happen, just like many other circumstances and potential pitfalls that can occur and not only take measures to avoid them, but take responsibility if they could but choose not to.

That being said, just because I think that kind of behaviour would be unwarranted, doesn't mean it can't happen. Sellers have been negged for less - I was negged because my description was accurate!

So, as a seller you also have a choice as to how you deal with the potential for things like that to occur. Rules and policies aside, in simple terms, when you create a listing you can do everything feasible to cater for the lowest common demoninator (for lack of a better way of putting it) and avoid things that can result in conflict with a buyer (whether reasonable / fair or not), or choose to risk taking a few hits from surprised / upset / disappointed people and possibly-maybe educate them / alter their future buying behaviour.

One method will make things ultimately easier for a seller, the other method may or may not make things easier for all sellers.

I absolutely agree it would be ridiculous but you don't have to sell for too long to find out that some buyers are ridiculous in their expectations.

That was only one reason why many of us said editing listings was not a good idea, the main one was the item not being searchable for some of the time, the OP was absolutely certain that this was not the case so good luck to them!

Re: Addicted to Selling Manager

Oh, make no mistake. I'm fully aware that a buyer's ignorance, through no fault of my own, may cause them to give me a neg because they didn't read the description - under the circumstances re: sniping, described in previous posts.

However, my point is that the neg would be removed. 🙂

Re: Addicted to Selling Manager

Hi, My main concern would be with revising all the time is like most posters is that my listing may not be visible for some time.Limiting my potentiol customers.

Don't be to sure that you will get a neg removed as it all depends on what they write in the comments. If they write not happy for an example eBay will not remove this, they would say that is how the customer percieves it to be and your stuck with it for 12 months. Plus they can attack your dsrs without you even knowing it .

my point is try to have all your information when you list if you use turbolister you can save your listings and tweak them until your happy with them then list.

This is just my opinion and I wish you all the best cheers W

I think buyers don't now the rules and sellers have to jump through hoops to please them in order to maintain a good FB rating

Careful, bump. :^O

However you are absolutely correct. The EBAY RULES say that you definitely cannot use terms like "not TAZO or POG"

Comparisons: Sellers are not permitted to make comparisons between items in a listing title.

Example not allowed:

The titles "Leather Handbag, like Chanel","Leather Handbag, Chanel style", or "Leather handbag, not Chanel" are not permitted on eBay because they make comparisons between the item being offered, a leather handbag, to a Chanel handbag.

Learning, teaching or bullying? :^O

I didn't know whether to say it here or send a private message, I only mentioned it because it could have been reported.

It has got to the point where I don't know whether to comment or not because everything seems to be turned into some sort of attack when it was never my intention.

Sometimes I just let things like that go without comment but feel guilty for not contacting the seller but  that is what it has come to here.

Bump - why on earth did you need to go through the OP's listings and comment? The OP was talking about the Selling Manager - nothing else. I'm sure if he/she would've wanted advice about their listings, they would've asked for it

The OP stated that they constantly make changes to their listings so I had a look, nothing sinister just accepting the implied invitation put out by the OP to have a look.

I would not have bothered looking if the OP had not brought my attention to their listings.

You really should reread what the OP has said because the OP DID NOT restrict their comments to Selling Manager.

This sort of deliberate misinterpretation of a person's post (ie my post) is what so many are complaining about at the moment.

Why the angst?
