Advise on Title Description

Im about to start selling an item and I have had to take a photo with a bottle of wine included in the photo for Illustration purposes. Do you think I need to put that in the Title or just the description or both. I don't want people to think they are getting the bottle of wine aswell.

Re: Advise on Title Description

I assume that the particular product is best photographed with the wine bottle as its associated directly with it in some way.

I would be inclined to take the photo with an obviously empty bottle and then make it very clear in your description that any wine is not included. So if they ever did assume the bottle was included you could send an empty one. Haha!

I don't think you need tp put this info in the product title tho.

Re: Advise on Title Description

You're allowed more than one photo.

In one of the pictures, you need to have a clear one of the item on its own, no bottle in sight.

Repeat it in the description. You can never be too clear.

Re: Advise on Title Description

When you take your photo, edit it with text on the actual image - Wine not included or something to that effect, as well as in the descriptionn as advised.

Not sure how strictly they police this but text embedded on images is specifically against ebay policy.

So I would think you may be at risk of having your listing removed if you do this.

clarry - it is only a recommendation to keep you images clean without text etc - it is not a policy.

You can have text etc in images on ebay.

Well that would probably explain why we have not seen anyone on here complaining that their listing has been removed for having text embedded on it.

Well spotted!!

I'd say put a note in the title, write in a bigger font. Don't put it in th title as it may violate keyword spamming.

Re: Advise on Title Description

Thanks everyone. I have put it in red writing, underlined in the description. I know alot of buyers don't read descriptions, but as already said, I'll send an empty bottle of wine (have quite a few lying around i'm sure). Thanks again

Re: Advise on Title Description

You are absolutely correct. Plenty of some buyers don't read the description. With some of my items I'll use a coin or a can of drink, or a matchbox as a size comparison. I can't tell you how many buyers contacted me saying they didn't get the 5c coin, or the can of coke, or the matchbox. Even after writing it in my descriptions, I'd still get messages saying not everything shown was delivered. I took one photo with a ruler and someone asked why they didn't receive the ruler! You bought a miniature tea set, why would you expect to get a scratched up old ruler with it?

Some buyer just don't get that for some items you need to have props to show the item off better. Whether that be a plastic head showing a hat or sunglasses, or bottle of wine, showing a decorative cork, or whatever. I'm guessing these are the same people that expect to get the Big Mac in the pictures on the wall at Maccas.
