Blocking eBay members from bidding/buying

Are eBay members notified if a seller blocks them from bidding/buying? I wouldn't think they are as it would surely only exacerbate any issues, but I wouldn't want to risk it.

No they won't know until they try to buy anything from you. Even then they won't be told the reason. There are many reasons for blocking bidders and you don't have to explain them or give any excuses if asked.

If another member's behaviour, actions or attitude give a seller or buyer cause for concern, that seller/buyer has every right to block that member

Merely adding them to your list, they get no notification at all. It's only if they then try to buy from you, they find they can't. They would get a message something like "this seller has chosen not to sell to you at this time". If you have ticked the box to stop blocked buyers contacting you, then they can't send you a message via any listings you may have. If they do manage to contact you and threaten or abuse you, contact eBay and report them.

The exact wording in bold red type is

" SORRY, THE SELLER ISNT ACCEPTING BIDS OR OFFERS FROM YOU AT THIS TIME. "

Followed by .....( in small black text ) .......

" This may occur for various reasons. For example the seller may have a limit for the amount of items that can be purchased within a given time  LEARN MORE "

The link takes you to a generic " All about bidding " page that makes no mention of seller blocks.

So basically the buyers only see ebay fluff and nothing that directly tells them they have been blocked or why.
