We accidentally sent a wrong sized folder to a buyer.
Of course, I've already sent out the correct one.
The wrong one is valued at $18.95 - I told them if they want, they can keep it for $6. Or, alternatively, they could please return it and I'll compensate return costs.
However, the buyer says that it's not fair to pay $6 if "we the seller" sent the wrong stuff in the first place.
??????
Yeah- can't argue with people like that.
I don't really care for $6. It's more the kind of customers eBay is breeding if I facilitate this. The $6 is just a message- you don't get a free item for another's mistake.

Wonder what this buyer would have done if they purchased something from a retail shop and when they got it home found there had been a packaging error and when they opened the packet it had the wrong size in it.
Would they go back to the shop and just expect to receive the correct size without returning the incorrect one?
The buyer is being unreasonable and unfair in this situation.

As a buyer only i find the expectations of this buyer horrid.
It was your error, we all do make mistakes, and you did offer the buyer reasonable options for your error,
Unfortunately i dont know what your solution on this would be, besides let them keep it and put them on your blocked buyers list.
Have you contacted ebay and discussed this with them ? Show them emails where they expect to keep the item for free.
Hope it works out
I hate bad buyers as much as i hate bad sellers, they ruin the ebay experience for everyone.

You can't do any more than what you've done, which is sending the right item out to them and sending a pre-paid satchel so that the buyer can send the wrong item back. All free of charge. It's not the perfect transaction but it's still getting them what they want at the end of the day.

Except that OP hasn't sent a pre-paid satchel and buyer doesn't want to return.
