Can I sell things for someone in another country?

Hey all, 

I cannot find a clear cut answer for this.

I live in Australia. Can I post an item for sale on behalf of my partner, who lives in Thailand if I put her address in under the postage location for that specific listing? Then when the item sells, she can post it to the buyer.

I don't see why this would be an issue and all the options are available to do so. However I just want to make sure it's 100% allowed before I do so.

What is the policy?

Sellers who are using a third party to fulfil orders are responsible for ensuring that items will be delivered safely within the terms of their eBay listing, and that their agreement with any service provider or supplier prevents the misuse of buyer data associated with eBay orders.

When using any third party to fulfil eBay orders on your behalf, all of the following conditions must be met:

• You pre-purchased or own the stock
• You are clearly identified as the seller on all packing slips and invoices
• Using the third-party fulfilment service doesn't mislead or confuse the buyer as to the origin of their purchase (for example, due to branded packaging)
• You ensure the safe fulfilment of the item within the terms stated in your listing
• You ensure that your third-party provider is subject to a contractual condition which prevents them from using or sharing any eBay order information (including the names and contact details of buyers) for any purpose other than the fulfilment of the specific eBay order which they are engaged by you to fulfil

Did this a few times for my brother overseas, but that was like 6-7 years ago.

I guess it can be done now also as ebay is full of suppliers who advertise product as being in Australia but actually comes in a month's time from China 🙄

eBay policies 6-7 years ago are very different to what they are now.

Chines sellers are not called "Teflon Sellers" for nothing, they can get away with things that are impossible for local sellers to do.

Your partner can list her own items for herself, thus avoiding the problems.

Your listing for her would be problematic and you particularly need to read what gutterpunkz has posted.

Do you realise that you would receive the payout from eBay and it’s your bank account that would be denuded in the event of any disputes? Furthermore, ATO will attribute all moneys received as YOUR income and you’ll be affected as appropriate, with regard to tax, Centrelink, etc.

I don’t rule out issues with money laundering concerns.

Hence… just get your partner to list her own items.
