Can somebody explain selling limits?

I've looked at the appropriate sections in the eBay "instructions" and have come away none the wiser. In fact they could have been written using an Enigma machine and translated from Swahili to Latin to Ancient Greek and back to English for all the sense I was able to make of them. Alternatively, I could just be really dumb or I am simply mentally unprepared for the quirky curveball that is eBay policy logic. Basically, my confusion comes from this: - eBay account #1 - Active for around 10ish years, mostly buying, started selling around 6-12 months ago with a monthly limit of 40 items or $4500.00. Sold maybe 40-50 things and now have the same item limit but, $5,200.00 value limit. - eBay account #2 - Opened approximately 2 weeks ago, no purchases, listed 6 items for sale. Monthly limit of 40 items or $7,500.00 value. Each account belongs to two different people so it can't be anything to do with both accounts belonging to the same person. To my way of thinking it would be logical for the newer account to have lower limits than the older account, not the other way around. I have no issue with the differing limits other than it annoys the daylights out of me simply because it is not logical! Can somebody that is fluent in eBayese please put me out of my misery!

I'm not sure such a creature exists - eBay logic is not of our earth logic, and the language they use to communicate their logic is about what you'd expect from an alien creature studying humans remotely and via standardised texts, rather than actual human speech and behaviour. Smiley LOL

Seriously, though, there may be other differences between the accounts - linked and verified PayPal account, and/or valid debit/credit card on file will often cause a difference in listing limits (both make eBay feel a bit more assured they're going to be able to nab their fees).

Ahhhhhh, as I suspected, simply a case of my puny brain being unequal to the task of plumbing the depths of the eBayverse.

Whilst your explanation makes sense I prefer to believe that the answer lies in what the Witch Doctor declared to be good magic for each account holder after having read the chickens entrails.  That, at least, is something I understand and eBay can never take it away from me  Smiley LOL

Re: Can somebody explain selling limits?

I had a starting limit of 100 on a new selling account. I asked for an increase in the limit, which was given (300) as I have another eBay selling account/ID with good history.

Some specific items and categories have varying limits also.

Re: Can somebody explain selling limits?

My friend had a similar problem and she was blocked at 'items for sale of $7,500' or '20 item limit' - there answer was that she needed a (25) next to her new account name, she has a (3) whether it is buying or selling. She has account linked to her paypal and her bank account - hope this helps

That, Digital Ghost, was exactly what I needed after a totally vile day at work.  I nearly snorted a nice big mouthful of shiraz fair out the hooter.  Smiley LOL

Thanks.
