As a seller I cannot offer free postage only Australia Post can offer free postage.
I sell and item for $10 and charge $10 postage, in the future I will sell an item for $20 with free postage.
Therefore no free postage.
I sell an item for $10 and take the item to the POst Office and instead of charging me $10 they tell me I don't need to pay to send the item then that is free postage.
Please let sellers state that postage is included in the price of the item.
Also how does the so called free postage work with sending cubed items to WA from NSW?
Does one put an extra $30 onto the item price just in case someone from WA buys the item?

Dave it just peeves me that none of them contacted me first, it needs to stop, they need to contact us first, im willing to help them, if only they make contact!
syrups, i dont think anything will happen to the pictures, your items will fall lower in searches.
Im not adding borders to anything new i list, but im not getting rid of anything that ive already got listed.
Im also not offering free postage on my items unless they are small enough and cheap enough for me to do so, im leaving my things the way they are.
Also you dont HAVE to offer 30 days return, its just a suggestion, if your business cannot cope with that then just have your normal 7 or 14 days like you do now, so again no need to change.
Ive never changed anything when ever ebay make changes and ive never seen any drop in my sales. Who knows if there will be a drop this time, i dont know, but i dont let it worry me.

They want the FVF on the postage, syrups, they're not game yet to enforce it like the US.
I suspect there might be something in our Trade Practices Act that stops them charging for a service they don't provide, postage.

There could be a loophole that says eBay is allowed to take fees from postage but not actually say it as such. E.g. having sellers advertise as free postage with no mention of the actual postage cost, as though there isn't one. Common sense prevails but legally, who knows.
I'm not a big fan of free postage because it drives the sale price up and potentially drives more buyers away than it attracts. Does depend on what you're selling and how you sell it, though.

Exactly what I was about to say.
They have found the loophole to the fair practices law for them to charge a FVF for the complete sales price... That is incredibly low and greedy...
It disadvantages both the seller and buyer in this case. The buyer misses out on combined shipping and the seller ends up ling more of their money to ebays wallet.
There is no way they can sugercoat this new policy.

eBay have a lot to answer for IMHO.
But I doubt they will.
They always seem to make out they will do the right thing.
Here is a small example of how they just DO NOT do as they say they will.
In an area I list in a new product has just shown up, thats all good. I always like to see new things.
BUT, the seller has this product in 3 colours and listed over 20 times in total.
Thats about 7 times for each colour.
Listings have the same pictures and price.
There are currently 6 listings for this item in the first 25 listings in this category and abut 10 of the first 50. And 4 /5 in the top 10.
Thats duplicates taking up places high up in the same category.
They are an OS (UK) seller they do not have TRS but seem to be getting very well looked after.
I reported this as a blatant breach of the "Duplicate listing policy" but they are still there.
eBay you are a joke at times, you just pick on the odd seller who makes a genuine mistake and let things like this go.X-(
Yet make out you are serious about these things. What carp.
The only thing you seem serious about is how much money you get.:O
It is no wonder there are so many people so upset over things at present.:-(
You are becoming the master of the .............

Funny how they can quickly respond to this but they haven't responded to other postings with queries.
I'm waiting until the last minute and will close my store just before the price hike. As a seller of books there is no way I can pay these fees as I don't have enough turnover with it being a hobby, not a large business who imports goods or one who directly sells from Hong Kong etc.
Hope to see other small store sellers on 'the other side'.

I am so sorry to see you and so many others leave.:-(
It is a very sad thing to see so many hard working, honest sellers who have great customer service and at times interesting and hard to fine items get pushed out the door.
Absolutely awesome work eBay. NOT.:-(

I have to say I think it very poor form that eBay have not answered one question put to them here as yet.
I thought by what was written below that this would be done a little more often.
This whole thing is obviously very distressing for many people and I feel these concerns need to be addressed ASAP.
We will be doing our best to gather answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the changes announced the 14th of August, 2012.
Please ask your questions (concerning the announcement only) on the linked thread (http://community.ebay.com.au/topic/Selling/Changes-Coming-Soon/500157244) and we will co...
