Hi All,
Did any one get an invite to join the click & collect option? If so whats the cost associated? Any ideas how it works for the seller?

I have had a look at Your Home Depot Digi. There is a pick up point at our nearest Big W....about 1.5k away.
The Collect option seems a bit glitchy and not all listings seem to have it. On several items it did not seem to be available, but when I went back a few minutes later it did appear.
All the items were Free Post anyway so I guess it will not make a lot of difference to the seller's costs but quite a difference to the buyer having to travel (in my case) 3ks round trip within 7 days. Our local Big W is only open till 6pm weekdays so it would mean a weekend pickup anyway.

I was interested to see these posts and like many other sellers was not aware of this new pick up system.
I know Big W etc have this option to pick up from allocated stores if it is their stock.
Just looked at the link above .. and saw the details for buyers re this
But could someone clarify if this is available to small sellers like me... or is it only for the Department Stores Like Big W Wollworhts etc???
I know it is only just starting... but on the info I looked at it did not give any info for small Ebay Stores like mine who may wish to use this system for customers within the Sydney area
thanks

Cheers, I'll keep checking back to see if I can bring up the option (don't actually have any Woolworths / Big W etc stores near me, but curious about how it's been implemented.
Re: the sellers it's available to, in the article above, it's saying over the next couple of weeks, around 250 'selected' sellers will have it, and over the next few years, up to 12,000 sellers might be offering it - I wonder if it will be part of a store subscription package, offered only to a specific type of seller (wouldn't work if only abvailable to TRS / Premium service etc, as it's so easy to lose, but maybe Power Seller level could play a part), or if there'll be a commission paid to Woolies on a per item basis each time a buyer uses it.

Helen, they are only trilling it with about 250 stores, presumably medioum to high volume stores, to see if it is worthwhile. I guess down the track, if it works, it might be available to the rest of us.
In any case , to answer whoever it was up a few posts who mentioned that some buyers would have a long trip to the store to pick up, it is only one delivery option among others, they are not suggesting it would be the only option, so if it doesn't suit the buyer, they simply wouldn't choose it. The seller I bought form this morning had Click and Collect, Standard Auspost Parcel, Express Post and Courier delivery.

Digi it is only available in Sydney and Tasmania at present so It would appear that the option only appears to buyers in those areas.
I have to say, I would much prefer to use the Free Post option than have to make a 3kl round trip and be tied down to a 7 day timeframe

Lyndal - click and collect is just going to be another option available to buyers. Sellers who will be able to offer the click and collect option will also be able to offer the free post option if they choose.
Personally I think there is a lot of merit in the system as for some buyers it could be very convenient to pop into the local Woolies store on the way home to collect their parcel, particularly for those who have trouble getting to a Post Office if it needs to signed for.
No buyer will have to take up the option if it is available. It will be a personal choice as to whether they would like the parcel sent to Woolies or to any other address they choose to have their parcel delivered to.
Absolutely nothing is going to change for buyer or sellers other than buyers being given an alternative delivery option for their parcel to be sent to.

Jen, I am aware that no buyer is going to be forced to use it but my reply was just a continuation of an exchange I was having with Digi who cannot see the option when she looks at stores who are using it.
As I said to her....some listings show it, some do not. Sometimes it shows on a listing when you look at it a second time. It seems that ebay may be at it's glitchy best.
In the case of the shop I was looking at all the listings were Free postage anyway and as a buyer I would prefer to use that option as the parcel would arrive on my doorstep without the need for a 3kl round trip on a weekend. The delivery option nearest to me is Big W and they are not open as late as Woolworths.
I also suspect that the reason Digi cannot see the option is because it is only available in Sydney and Tasmania at present and Digi is not in Sydney or Tasmania.
