Defect for Late Shipment

Hey Everyone. Just wanted to check with everyone here because I know I will get a straight answer, instead of calling CS. I have just noticed I have a Late defect Rating - Carrier Says late delivery. Customer ordered it on 14th February, AP scanned it on 16th Feb, then 17th, 18th, 20th all scanned again, then finally delivered to QLD (im in Sydney) on 25th Feb. Should I call Ebay and question the defect or let sleeping dogs lie.

Large letter (without tracking) late delivery defects are purely based upon what answer the buyer gives when leaving feedback.

If they answer NO to the question about was it received before xxx date you will get the defect.

The fact that you marked it as "Posted" within your handling time counts for nothing. This is simply a transaction status and nothing more.

When using large letter (as we do) then because you do not have tracking and can therefore prove nothing re the postage date your are always at the mercy of the buyer's answer and ebay will never remove any such defects.

Yet in the report it clearly states "carrier" says late delivery, not the buyer. I guess I'll be calling eBay to find out what's up.

Re: Defect for Late Shipment

I asked ebay on 17 occasions what's up and ebay responded with there's the door get out lol.

Ebay don't give a **bleep** as long as their buyers are happy.

Well without tracking the carrier cannot say anything. Only the buyer can.

Indeed - I just assumed it was because I marked it posted late (which I thought was really stupid).

I'm off on Tuesday so I'll give them a call.

Lol. Indeed, the whole thing is really stupid !  For heaven sake, we're not a bunch of school kids.  So what if we Upload Tracking a few hours late.  I often post on my way to work, and may not upload Tracking until I get home later in the afternoon or early evening and as for Late delivery - in my case - the scanning showed it arrived at the PO within the guesstimated time.  NO attempted delivery, WASN'T carded - simply marked awaiting collection !  I messaged the buyer to let her know and she then had to drive to whoop whoop to collect it.  Delivery was never attempted.   Sure I had all the evidence to produce, over & over & over again until someone took notice, but why should we have to waste our time ?  Buyer didn't even say it was late !  Defect was eventually removed, but I have better things to do with my time than argue about something that was, like in your case, not my fault and anyway, I really don't like having to argue and defend myself when I've done nothing wrong - much like everybody I think Smiley Happy

Edit  :  And the point of that rant, was to say - good luck on Tuesday & be prepared to be persistent

Re: Defect for Late Shipment

I called Ebay this morning and the defect will be removed. I asked them Why it states Carrier says late delivery and she said that Ebay will automatically give a defect if the carrier delivers it outside the "estimate" delivery time. I said it was a bit unfair if the seller has done everything right and the carrier let them down, she said "don't worry, if that happens, then call us and if you have posted inside your handling time, then Ebay will remove the defect no problem".

Re: Defect for Late Shipment

Apart from some hard working and great sellers potentially having their reputations and selling abilities dinted. All sellers constantly being dinged for something they haven't done, simply because they cant prove otherwize, is demorailzing., Many will give up having pride in what they do and simply focusing on covering their butt. Many will give it up as unrewarding and many new sellers who are innocently walking blindly into this will simply give up. ie This will affecy ALL sellers, and for what? The crime of shipping a day late even IF the accusation is true.

I am sure even blind freddy can see that in all the evil doings that sellers can perpertrate on buyers this is waaaay down the list, behind sending junk, sending nothing but an empty biox, being rude and abusive to buyers, etc. You can do all this without defect, just dont be caught not being able to prove it was sent on time. Those evil sellers who rock up at the PO with their crate of 30 parcels, having been held up to find it shut its doors 5mins ago..or even were to sick to make it..30 potentral defects on the way straight to the dungeons for you.

Heaven forbid your PO has had an electrical blackout and cant scan anything in.. There are many reasons why sooner or later you are not going to get a lodgement scan within your handling time. even increasing your handling time for letters wont save you when a whole collection bag gets misplaced with your whole batch delayed a week.

The point is one single mishap can create defects across many items in one fell swoop.A whole forrest of negs wont get you suspended, but that evil deed might. Who wants to work in an environment where that threat is hanging over you.?
