Defect system, consider damage control NOW

DAMAGE CONTROL...measures taken to offset or minimize damage to reputation, credibility, or public image caused by a controversial act, remark, or revelation.

What steps can we take now to minimize the damage to our lively hood, business, reputations which is in evidently going to occur from eBays polluted defect system.

1/Do we wait till the ship has sunk and try to raise it....Are you like the TITANIC..cant be raised?

2/Do we stop building up our stock , waiting for the inevitable to happen.

3/Or do we just become Doris Days and say

Que Sera, Sera  ???

I was presuming that if you join ebay germany that you would have to sell on their site....

I don't know enough about it to be asking questions...

If he was only selling to the Australian market before, he could still just sell to the Australian market on a foreign site. The postage rates would still be local postage rates (but probably in euros). I've seen Chinese sellers who will only ship to the US and Australia and not China. I think that's where the international blocks would come into it.

I have encountered Aussie sellers on eBay US and the postage was what I would pay for a Aussie sellers on the AU site, but if I changed my location to the US, then the postage jumps to international rates. It's just listed in US $$.

I get that, I have quite a bit of stock I could be left holding as well, and I know the risks of tactic (as it were) I've decided to take. For me personally, I don't see any other option but to forge ahead while making escape routes. 😄

Feels a bit like eBay is Shawshank and all I have is a spoon right now, but I guess I'm gambling on being able to save up so I can give someone enough smokes to procure a jackhammer.

As far as I know, you have to provide a domestic postage option for any site you list on. If you list on the US site, there's no way to not ship within the US, regardless of seller or item location. Some sellers I've noticed listing on the Oz site and using the regional blocks to effectively be able to list here but post to virtually nowhere within Australia, but I'm not sure if similar regional blocks are available on other sites.

Registering as a seller on another site isn't quite as simple as using a different IP address. You would need to provide a range of details and verifications, completely different and unconnected to the original person and account.

I found another 2 boxes of stuff in the shed the other day, so I'll be around for a bit longer yet, unless the defective defect systems kills me first. There's probably more boxes out there that I haven't found yet! I thought all my stuff was inside, but it seems i was wrong. I'll be glad when it's all gone, then I can give this place the flick.

Sheep is right, VPN's are what CHOICE was promoting to get around the geo-blocks where Austalians were being blocked from buying software from the US such as Adobe; Australian "Tax" can cost an extra $2,000 plus for the same programs (cheaper to fly there and purchase from a shop!).

Also protects your privacy - no way to monitor who you are, what you buy, what you read etc...

Is that really true that ebay links your accounts by ISP or is there a range of checks they use?  Seems too easy to just go to the local library or something.

Does that also mean that the accounts I set up before I moved house will be totally seperate from any new ones if I'm careful about all the other info (paypal id, address and all the rest)?

No, they won't be separate because as soon as you login to those accounts at your new house, they will share the same IP address with your regular accounts. If you go to someone else's house and login, you will be matched up with their IP address from their ISP.

If you're with an ISP that gives you a new IP address each time you turn your router on it might be a bit easier to get around it, but if you have a static IP, you can't because a number is assigned to you and you keep that number.

Ebay do have other systems in place as well as IP addresses to cross reference account holders. Its probably better if I dont list them all here as not everyone who reads the forums does so with good intentions.

AAh, probably what those stalkers use eh - you know the ones that constantly send junk email and you Block them and still they appear.  Wow, maybe, just maybe, I've cottoned on to something - there's hope yet, lol
