I listed an authentic GUCCI bag which sold and was sent to authenticators. It failed due to the lining being shortened due to a large hole being burnt in it by ironing it. This was disclosed in the listing and accepted by the buyer.
The bag is still authentic, just the lining altered.
Very angry

The seller always sends the items, Granny.
What help do you expect other members to give when the bag was rejected?

What it means is that ebay isn't going to be the place where you can sell this.
Their authenticators do sometimes get it wrong, I am sure, but it is no good trying to go through the process again with them.
Presumably you got your bag returned.
All I could suggest is that you go onto facebook and look for a Gucci buy and sell site or else just an appropriate category on marketplace and advertise there. Without authentication though, you may not be able to get the same price.
Is there anywhere else you can take it to get authenticated? You may have to pay but you'd be better off in the long run with an authentication certificate. I guess though that the fact you altered the lining may go against you with them too.

My guess would be that the authenticators have a checklist eg outer, handle, clasp, lining etc. If any of these is not original or has been modified the bag automatically fails. They may not have even seen your description where you mention the modifiction. They just see the bag as it is presented to them.
You know the lining was original but the authenticator sees a lining that is different to what they expect to see.
As others have mentioned eBay is not the place to sell the bag and you will have to find an alternative

Exactly
The authenticators would have just seen a bag clearly altered by the person sending it and that would have been the end
