I sold an item and due to a sudden illness it couldn't post it on time. The buyer opened a case and I responded straight away that it was on its way and the reason for being late was because of illness. I had no comments from the buyer and a few days later I find that he has recieved a refund. Ebay doesn't seem to give a S#!& about sellers.

How long after your handling time did you post the item ?
Did you upload the tracking number into the dispute ?

When you could not ship within your handling time, did you advise the buyer and give them an option to wait or request a cancellation. Did you eventually ship with tracking and notify the buyer, and upload tracking to ebay.
Did you upload tracking details to the INR case.
I know sudden illness/accident/hospitalization etc, can create challenges for sellers without assistance or backup plans in place, but this does not diminish your obligations to the seller and/or ebay

Correction (Too late to edit)
but this does not diminish your obligations to the buyer and/or ebay

The buyer couldnt have opened a case until after the EDD, so its reasonable that they open a case. Ebay does care, you just need to treat your customers correctly.
