I am extremely unhappy about the information eBay wants from me to receive payments.
If eBay gets hacked, the hacker gets:
And eBay keep this - even after verifying my account!!!
This is too high risk for me!
Why can't they simply transfer to my credit card if you don't want to pay into my paypal account?
I'll bet all those Chinese companies on eBay won't be providing those details!!! What will they do instead? Why do they get away with it, and not me?
If there are no alternatives, I will strongly need to consider not using eBay in future.

It's now just easier if I just chuck whatever I was going to sell in the bin.
I believe that AML only occurs at a certain $ threshold, so eBay are falsely asking for too much details when they don't have to in many cases.
eBay have also been pushing out the casual sellers for years, pretty much only wanting the commercial vendors.
Tuesday is bin night, start chucking.

I'm cancelling my account - this is too ridiculous

Excellent news... more sales for the savvy sellers who are able to adapt to change.

Gee, if only they had some way of knowing before now 🙄

You've bought FOUR things in the last year, sold nothing.
eBay will not notice you leaving.
You've dodged a bullet - eBay would have held your payments (if you sold anything) for 30 days as you would be considered a new seller. You've sold very little in the last FIVE years, 3 items according to your feedback, so chuck them in the bin instead.

Agree - having had personal information stolen from Medibank Private I'm not prepared to give out any more personal information online.

That's fine - as long as you never want to sell on ebay again.

I understand it is a worry. Of course it is. Our personal details are everywhere though-with banks, medicare, licenses. Any time you buy anything online, you have to give name and address and you have to pay in some way (I always choose paypal if posible, but even paypal could potentially get hacked).
All you can do is try to minimise your risk. When we were selling, for instance, we had a separate bank account which was for ebay sales and expenses only. If someone had stolen the information from ebay back then, they would not have learnt anything about our private bank accounts.

So that is a good point! Why then if we already have signed in to purchasing on Ebay would they need to have either a drivers license or passport id when you sell? They are happy for you to buy without this, but not sell. Besides, it would be discriminating towards those who either don't have a drivers license or a passport - which is not a legal requirement for selling, is it?

Yes it is
Have you signed up for Managed Payments?
It does'nt sound like it really, by your post
So how do you plan to be paid for the things you have listed for sale?
