Fudged 'Page View" numbers onSellers Listings ????

Just a minor tale to share and seeking thoughts from others in the know.

I listed an item tonight at 5.30pm, it's now 8.20pm and the item still has not gone live...so can anybody explain how I've already had 8 Page Views on the item when Buyers can't even see the listing??????

Has eBay now taken to "fudge" figures on Sellers listings to make it look like there are actually heaps of potential Buyers, when in truth it doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Yes I've noticed that too quite a few times.  Within a minute, there have been a similar amount of visits to what you apparently have had, yet the listing is not active yet.  I suddenly feel like a piece of fudge incidentally:-)

Re: Fudged 'Page View" numbers onSellers Listings ????

My items usually take between 6-8 hours before they become live, and I list in a variety of categories, yet nearly all of them have views by the time they do eventually become live listings.  My only thought is that ebay reps are viewing the items because they are the only ones that can see them:|

I find it really odd when people say their listings take hours to go live, is this just for auctions of for BIN items too.

Whenever I list an auction, as soon as it goes live within a few minutes I have a bid or two and often while i am sitting listing items, i will click submit and with 2 minutes the sold alert goes off on my phone and $$ it sold already. I do not seem to have any issues with items being delayed when hitting live servers, is it only certain categories this happens in ?

Yeah, probably just eBay automatically viewing them for potential rule breaks.

Did you look at the listing? I would have thought that if not "live" then the counter would be disabled.

Someone explained it to me once - they are not people viewing your listings but bots.

First off eBay bots that pick up key words, then Google and several other search engine bots.

They don't view it as such, just scan the listing.

l'm sure it made much more sense when it was explained to me. Wasn't anything sinister.

silly sheep - I've heard that said by other sellers, however I know ebay hate me and perhaps that's why my listings, whether auction or bin, take so long to show up:|

ambridge, that makes sense because I've had listings removed within 30 minutes of doing them (not even live), and have been told they've been picked up in a "random" search:|  Heck, I had one special listing removed (emailed the number to the buyer) and copped a policy violation after it was sold:^O
