Nearly all Promotion Rates that I use range from 3% to 11% max, most around 7%
Does anyone know why Games Consoles (ie PS3 PS4 XBox 360 etc) has suddenly jumped up to 41%!!!!!?
It was hovering around 7-8% a couple of months ago...

Thanks for all the answers... sorry I havent replied; life got hectic ๐คฏ
In the end I contacted custimer services online chat; they gave multiple non-commital reasons it 'could' be and said they would raise it internally
I left it at that thinking I would just have to wait it out...
And then over the next 4 days it slowly started dropping and settled at 6.6% !!!!!
Innnnnnnnteresting! ๐ค
Anyway... sorted
Now to investigate some of these "don't need to use promotions" responses above and figure out how the hell I do that!
Thanks!

What part of you don't need to use promotions don't you understand?
You don't need to use promotions and YOU have the ability to choose what the level of fees are applicable if you do.
Everything else is down to how desperate you are for sales.

What part don't I understand?
Well, when I use the promotions, things sell like crazy, when I don't, they don't...
So if there is a way to sell like crazy without promotions, I dont currently know it, and I need to find out
That's all I meant ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ

I suppose it depends on your business model.
I don't and won't use promotions, my sales are around 200% more than same time last year.
The amount you are prepared to pay above standard fees is entirely down to you. If you don't think 41% is viable, don't play the game.

I don't disagree
I just havent figured it out yet
And 41% is crazy... there would be no profit (or point)
But as I wrote above, it reset to 6.6% a few days afetr I questioned it... who's to say why ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
But if I can learn how to do it without promotions, I will
Havent been going long enough yet to have figured out all the nuances

As I at least intimated, don't get sucked in.
Price your products at realistic prices and they will sell. It might take a while. I have sold a dozen items that had been listed for 6 years in the last fortnight. It's about waiting for a buyer, not getting sucked into eBay's game. Which promoted listings definitely is.
If you are getting sales of promoted items but not when they aren't, perhaps adjust your prices.

I have been 'sucked in'.
With 8 out of 10 sales copping the ad fee I can
only assume that my listing isn't generally noticed
outside the 'sponsored' box.
Luckily only 7.1% and it does carp me off but my
product isn't a universal like iphone or sony or a particular
book title.
