Hello everyone,
It appears many posts on this thread have ventured into the territory of becoming hostile towards other users & as you all should be aware - this violates the Discussion Board Usage Policy.
You can review eBay's Usage Policy here.
This thread pertains to "$1 FVF deals". Please return to the topic of this thread .Thank you all for your contributions & help in keeping the community a friendly, productive environment for all members.

No you hang on a minute!!
You consider you have the right to abuse, but someone who was pointing out a fact is in the wrong. Personal situations do not have a place on the boards, and there are plenty of members here who would agree with this, and have done so.
In case you missed it, this was a response I made to casbit on post 119.
"You have posted on the boards quite a few times over the years, and I recall you stating a very long time ago that you listed for other people, and those people received the proceeds of sales, after deducting FVF’s, and you received nothing for your time.
You are to be commended for your efforts on behalf of others."
So, to post a dire consequence situation, was in my opinion, not warranted about the removal of the $1 weekends. Possibly tippy's response sounded a bit acerbic. However, there have been many times over the years where there have been posts of 'What about me??!!, where those situations have absolutely nothing to do with any eBay issue of the moment.
Personally, I think everyone needs to go back to their 'unsold' listings and work out what they think will sell easiest, and put their concentration there, rather than attempting character assassination here.

@ringinthedingding,
What you have posted, i.e.,
❝casbit you have my sympathy and I do understand that ebay selling can do your head in .. hang tough and remember there are still good people about who are not just here to kick you when you are down as many do on anti-"social media" these days .. take care and best wishes for your friends there❞
.... with every regard for your wish to encourage the poster concerned, I'm left wondering just what practical help those words would have provided? I'm not attempting to be dismissive, and I understand the intention, and of course a sympathetic hug can be extremely comforting... but comfort is of limited value when it comes to a business situation. That poster really needs facts that can help him/her move forward with a new selling strategy.
(I am more likely to be empathetic in my approach than some others, albeit with - I hope - a practical oiutlook. That doesn't make my approach more valid than others, and as I'm not an eBay seller, another drawback is that I don't have that personal experience to offer.)
Cold hard facts are never palatable, but they can be necessary for survival. I hope that the seller concerned will take on board these cold hard facts:
From what I have seen, people here tend to be generous with their help and ideas even if there are personality clashes or have been disagreements... (with the caveat that few people will spend time responding if there's a sense that the help/ideas/advice will be ignored).

I think tippy talking so tough and brash doesn't need to have a crew of defenders here speaking on its behalf .. the transgression is clear enough .. perhaps tippy should be apoligising to that person and tempering its language?
More fool you. My savings on Fees via these promotions, enabled me to sell at a cost of 5-6% paypal & ebay combined, a saving of nearly 10%. Enough to buy a brand new small car, or nearly cover my annual postage bill.

It saved me heaps and was far better then paying up to $15 in FVF's on some items (combined it saved me
over $200 in fees between my 2 accounts which paid for the stuff I bought on here).
Good thing I don't have a lot of stuff for sale as I've got the $1.10 FVF's offer on this account only.

Obviously the $1 FVF's weren't working for their bottom line so they got rid of them to try something else and
if that doesn't work they'll try something different again (eBay has to make money and it's their choice in whatever
way they want to achieve that).
I just find it a bit strange for three posters that haven't posted for 7 months,16 months and 4 years and 7 months
to all post and comment on the same thread in the same/similar manner (I believe there is a word for that which
strangely enough they keep using against other posters).

@casbit33 wrote:We also have to remember, and be thankful for, the many unlimited fee free promotions. I managed to sell quite a few things during those promos. The whingers here seem to forget those. If they want to leave because they feel so disgruntled over having their toys taken off them, that's their business (and loss). There will always be future promos.

We have had the weekend free listings for so long it felt permanent,. no i am told it will happen rotationally. but they have no idea how often that will be.
my problem is that i sell for other people that cannot do it themselves. They are well below the poverty line - like me and cannot afford a store either. these people also have mental health problems. now i will have to tell them that i cannot list their items any more. one has spoken of suicide, and this could tip him over the edge. I will have to have a medical team and an ambulance on stand by when i tell them. So i think i have a right to be disgruntled. You don't know other people's situation, but you certainly don't mind shooting them down.
While not wishing to comment on the ambulance thing, I finally get where you are coming from. You use the free listings to sell stuff for people with mental health issues who cant do it themselves. No more free listings and those people miss out on the extra bit of income you make for them. It might not be what ebay was designed for, but kudos to you for taking the time to help these people out.
