It's not possible.

It is possible to have a PayPal account and not automatically accept credit card payments.

That only applies if you have a "personal" Paypal account....and one cannot list an item on eBay if one has a personal Paypal account !

You say "It's not possible". Are you saying that credit card is compulsory ?

Can't...or shouldn't?

I did, although admittedly that was a couple of years ago now, and I figured out pretty quick it was a lot easier just to upgrade to a premier account than go in and manually accept payments that were funded by CC.

Why don't you just make it easier on the forum and instead of posing questions designed to get you an answer that can then justify and prompt your next "plan of attack", and just come out and say what you want the forum to do / know / say / whatever.

We can argue semantics all day about whether credit cards - per se - are compulsory, but we both know already that all the safer payment options involve credit card payments in one form or another and a seller is bound to accept such a payment if the buyer pays that way, so please....save us all a bunch of time. Robot Frustrated

I don't own a credit card and i have used Paymate this year when I bought something without reading the description properly and only realized that the seller did not offer PayPal until after I had committed to buy.

But if you accept Paypal and use paypal-compliant postage then you will be protected by Paypal from credit card chargebacks.

Paypal does not say the seller "will" be protected...That is what you are saying !

But that is not the question...The question is how to list an item on eBay and not accept credit card?

The answer has been given above..."It's not possible".

I have no problem with safer payment methods. So maybe if I refrase the question... Paypal is the only designated safer payment method of those offered that must be used that offers payment other than credit card. So how do I list an item for sale and accept Paypal but not accept credit card ?

It's not possible.

It is possible to have a PayPal account and not automatically accept credit card payments, but on eBay you have to accept however the buyer chooses to pay, so there's no way you can offer PP and decline credit card payments.

I'm surprised you want to know - I thought you requested eBay close your account in protest...I fugured that meant you weren't interested in listing on the site. o_O

short protest.

I must have missed something...How excatly do you prevent a credit card dispute ?

A buyer pays with credit card. Then gets the item. Then asks for a "chargeback"...Where is the dispute ? There is nothing the seller can do. There is nothing eBay can do. There is nothing Paypal can. If the buyer files for a "chargeback" the seller loses the item, loses the money and maybe gets Neg Feedback as a reward... Where is the dispute ?

The ONLY way to prevent credit card disputes and credit card fraud is to NOT accept credit card payments !

Anyone that disputes that fact, is most likely engaged in credit card fraud themselves... !!!

Lol. You would prevent this by not accepting credit cards. Isn't that the topic of this discussion? Maybe I missed something.

That is the topic exactly !!... So how do you do that on eBay ?

The answer was given..."It's not possible"...You cannot list an item for sale on eBay and not accept payment by credit card.

In case some one else can give another answer...the question is  - How to list an item and not accept credit card as a payment option?

So far the answer is...You can not !
