Hi
How do we compete with a seller who sells at a loss, I purchased a pair of earrings to see how they package/post them, cost $1.99 aud, when the earrings arrived, the postage was $2.20 aud add ebay fees onto that your looking at maybe $2.50 aud so they losing $0.50 per sale, there is no way I can compete, and they have over 10,000 listings on ebay with 195k items sold, i checked their feedback history and most people buying the $1.99 earrings and not the more expensive to even out the so called sales. Ebay stated that they have other accounts with more expensive items to even out the sales......again how is this fair to the rest of us??
They litterly have a monopoly so why should I sell on ebay and is this happening with other items??
How can we compete with this????

There is nothing for ebay to fix. The seller can sell at whatever price they like.

I fully understand that there are many ways to achieve this, but what I am saying is that Buy it Now items should be monitored by ebay, and if selling deliberately at at loss they should be banned otherwise how do the rest of us get a fair chance, yup you can say ebay has never been fair, well lets make them fair. Ebay hasnt done anything about their bad feedback, and that reflects on all sellers ........."I am not buying earrings off ebay they where cheap and nasty"

Pretty much every company/store uses "loss-leaders" to promote their items for sale as Twyn said - no doubt you've bought some of those items when shopping at your local supermarket.

If they are not making money, they will go broke. But i Doubt that is going to happen. The seller has no obligation to be fair to anyone, and there is nothing for ebay, ACCC etc to enforce.

So what you are saying is Ebay need to check every item, and determine if the seller is making a profit or a loss. Thats not Ebay's remit. It's a marketplace where sellers set their own prices.
Not sure what your gripe is, if you can't compete, dont sell that product, find something else. It must be whinge Friday.
