Did they actually receive any training beforehand?
I'm a seller myself so I understand how ebay works, but I don't think they, who actualy work for ebay, have *ANY* idea.
This morning my boss asked me to purchase something on ebay for him; about $1300 worth of items.
I purchased them using my ebay account, but paid with his credit card; then I found the payment was pending.
Since he needs those products urgently, I had to call ebay to see if there is any possiblity to speed it up.
Then, that lady over phone says:
" As it says here, seller must have a verified paypal account to receive payment successfully."
" Please contact seller and ask them to verifiy their account."
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight; you are saying, the seller, who has 100k+ feedbacks, and a top-rated badge, doesn't have a verified paypal account....
Where the heck is your common sense lady??
How did you even get this job in the first place??
grrrrrrr................ no wonder ebay is going downhill.

Contact the seller ASAP to find out. Pull the phone details to make life easier and give them a call.
And in future, when contacting eBay "support" (and I use the term lightly) if you do not receive a definitve answer, ask to speak to a supervisor.
The phone handlers are simply reading from a screen of help on certain issues, and have no real idea how eBay works at all.
In saying that, you probably should have called paypal as it is a pending payment issue - and in my experience they are extremely knowledgable and helpful.

When I wanted my fees back for a chargeback they told me they didn't have access to paypal details.
Nothing can really be done with customer support of ebay, they are a faceless, and just read prompts of a screan. I thought centrelink was bad a few years back but ebay take the cake.

The issue you are having with PayPal (not ebay) is that:
a) it is a new credit card number not previously associated with your PP account;
b) the credit card IS NOT in your name but someone else; and
c) the purchase price is over $500. way over.
PP will probably slow track the clearance because of all the above to ensure that the card has not been stolen and that it is not a fraudulent transaction (e.g. someone hijacking your accounts). This is common practice.
Personally I think what PP is doing is 100% correct.
PS you should have done what someone else said - opened new ebay/pp accounts for your boss to conduct his business.
