Perhaps eBay can answer this one, perhaps another forum member - But I'm stumped.
We got an order via eBay, and we had no choice but to use manage payments, of course. We can't control who logs onto eBay, what payment method they use, or verify that the payment method they used is non-fraudulent.
However, we got an email from eBay saying the credit card provider has disputed the payment as being an unknown charge. We provided proof of order/proof of delivery documentation as requested.
Today eBay has said that the dispute had been found in the buyers' favour (which seems strange, given they are claiming it's a fraud...) and took the money + a $22 chargeback fee from us.
If it were my site where I controlled log-ins, fraud protection etc., it would make sense to me, but how does it make sense if I can't control any of those things?
Welcoming anyone with thoughts on this...

How is it that you can be a member since 2005 and have 18,700+ feedback, and not know or understand what a CC chargeback is?
They're claiming the purchase was unauthorised.
What's a chargeback? A chargeback is like a refund, where a transaction made on a debit or credit card is reversed. It happens when the cardholder disputes the payment, claiming it was invalid or unauthorised

I presume you are referring to the $22 dispute fee, rather than a charge back fee.
If you have done everything correctly, and meet all criteria, there should not be a dispute fee and ebay should pay the charge back.

I would've thought that if you sent to the address on record, with tracking and within your handling time, you were protected. After all, you have no idea if the charge was fraudulent or not - Ebay Seller Protections are supposed to protect you under these circumstances for situations out of your control.
