Remember a couple of years ago when Ebay delivered branded tape to some of us sellers?
The 6 rolls have been sitting there gathering dust until I realised that since I am moving home in 2 weeks I can use it to tape up my packing boxes without having to go to Bunnings.
WIN!

I found a really good use for mine, I wrapped it around the box that I used to protect the product I was sending. It sure worked better than my old method of a piece of twine.

as everyone else has said - it's basically useless to me too. i sometimes put a strip of it over a satchel's seal just to indicate that it's an ebay item - but it certainly doesn't have much holding power.
they originall sent me 6 rolls.. a few months later, i went to the post office to pick up a package which i had no idea what it was; turned out to be a giant box from ebay with 30x rolls of ebay tape in it. parcel weighed a tonne. nice to see where our fees are going
that being said, very rare to get anything for "free" from ebay. i must say i was surprised.

I won't use it for it's intended purpose as I want all branding on my products and packages to be exclusively my own - i.e. when people receive one of my pacakges, I'd rather encourage "my package from [brand] arrived" rather than "my package from eBay arrived".
I'd be happy to give away the rolls I do have, so at least they can be put to good use, though.
The spoiler is for countess

Is this tape biodegradable?
Is it compostable?
Is it made from recycled plastic?
No? Oh, eBay, eBay... destroyer of planets...
No idea Countess....my experience of it is only from a buyer's point of view.
While a lot of sellers either do not have the ebay tape or do not use it there are still plenty who do and honestly their parcels look very cheap and shoddy.
Some sellers wrap the whole parcel in tape...maybe to waterproof it. Others use it as an extra seal on pull tabs which is very difficult to remove and actually open the parcel.
If it is used on a box it is a doddle to open....just a small nick with anything that comes to hand and the tape just tears and the box pops open.
Overall I wish sellers would not use it....I prefer that the whole neighbourhood does not know where my mail comes from, It is an open invitation to thieves. Thank goodness for my excellent postman and Contractor who make sure the parcels are well out of sight if they leave them.

The obvious branding is a problem reported by US sellers about Amazon FBA.
A parcel left on a doorstep has a big smiley face is just begging someone to steal it.
I'd say the same applies to eBay packaging tape.

I use it, as I said, to stick bubblewrap around the item.
Which then goes in a satchel.
Usually an eBay one. Oops.

I think they got that issue covered.... lol
I'm in the "this is creepy" camp
TL;DR - people (in the US only, I believe) can give Amazon access to their door so that parcels can be left inside, rather than outside.

can't imagine any problems happening there

I wouldn't allow a friend to have access to my home at will - special one-time code or not.
I wouldn't allow family who don't live here to have access to my home at will, etc., etc.
I'm certainly not about to let Amazon - or any company - to have that access. It's not so much the delivery person that worries me... it's the notion that anyone in the world would allow Amazon to have any measure of control about entry into their own homes - not to mention the camera aspect. Ugh.

I just leave the door open, But dont tell anyone, Its a secret. Where I last put the keys is another secret, that one day I might find the answer too.
Anyway, if the Dog does not get them , the cat certainly will.
Couriers wont even get out of the truck
