I seem to have a lot of buyers not leaving feedback these days.
This is very disappointing.
I used to follow up with an email asking them to but still did not get a lot.
Why do you think this is?

I used to message saying that leaving feedback was the only way I knew that I and Aust Post had done our jobs properly.
Now I don't bother.
Okay, it's good to get nice feedback comments, but I value the personal emails a lot more - the ones that let me know whatever got there safely and thanking me for the effort I put into my packaging. Those emails make my day.

Feedback is voluntary and some people just want their item and see no need to leave feedback.

I would not contact buyers about feedback.
Feedback is voluntary for both buyers and sellers. Some leave it straight away, others when they get the eBay reminder, others not at all.
I think as more and more people buy online on sites where there is no feedback feature they tend not to worry about leaving it on eBay, unless of course there's a problem with the transaction.

Yes you are right in what you say.
The positive and thoughtful feedback make up for the ones that do not leave any.
Thanks you for your reply.

I thought our star rating etc was based on feedback. How will people know they are dealing with an honest seller if this isn't done. Anyway I think it's just rude not to leave feedback when it's such a simple thing to do.

I agree that's it's rude not to leave feedback for a good transaction and I mostly always leave feedback for my sellers.
BUT as a buyer, I hate being hassled for feedback. It's not common though. It pretty much guarantees that I won't leave any.
It's especially annoying when the seller doesn't leave feedback first, as in "I'll leave fb for you if you do so for me" (as a buyer, I couldn't care less about having fb anyway).
So my advice generally is don't hassle buyers.

I just have a little message on all my item listings at the bottom saying:
Please note: I always leave feedback so once you receive your item please consider taking the time to leave me feedback, it is the only way I know you have received your item and the only way I can improve myself as a seller.
Thank you for your business!

And does it work?
