I was hoping someone could give me advice regarding a buyer not receiving an item. They contacted me on Friday to say it had not arrived. I asked that they wait to see if it came in today's mail. I have messaged them today and they say it has still not arrived (it was posted 13/4 from Vic to country WA).
Now, the item wasn't sent registered post but I have the Aust Post receipt showing I posted the parcel to their postcode. What is the normal procedure here? Obviously I feel bad it hasn't arrived but I did send it and am still holding onto the hope it will turn up.
Am I supposed to refund the buyer or do I just feel bad and wear the neg feedback?
Any advice appreciated.

Just an update.
Well what do you know, after taking all of your advice the parcel turned up. Today the buyer contacted me and said the post office put the parcel in the wrong PO box. Weird that it has taken 9 days for them to realize this.
I am soooo happy that this is all over.
Thanks so much for all your help.

Oh, that is not weird at all; if the person who collected the mail from the other PO box did not check until they got it home or to their office. Then it would depend on their honesty to bring it back to the PO.

If it's a small country town it probably serves a wide outlying district - the owner of the other box may only collect their mail once a week.
