Item posted then tracked to recipient's work address, buyer claims no show

Hi some ideas / advice from other sellers please, this has not happened to us before. We posted an item with tracking to the seller's address (his workplace) as shown on ebay. He claims not to have it , even though he saw the tracking steps showed it HAD BEEN delivered to his workplace.

We also checked the tracking steps via Aust Post website and according to the final step it WAS delivered to his workplace.

So, as far as we are concerned, we have followed correct procedure, as has Aust Post; is there any requirement of us to reimburse him for a parcel which appears to have 'disappeared' once it reached his workplace?

Thank you

1s8 i commend you for the steps you take when posting your items,if its no hassle for you & your buyers are happy.....well done.

I am not selling atm,but wether something cost $5 or more i ALWAYS sent by registered post,no-one ever complained about the extra cost.

Only had 2 poss lost parcels, the last one that the customer put in a claim for was found in my favour,

Infact she started to be quite nasty about it all but it was signed for at her address &

the other turned up at the neighbours house.

If it was unregistered i would have refunded but i register to protect myself as i was a low volume seller,my feedback was always at 100%

Good luck with it,kat

I took the advice of kopenhagen 5 and emailed buyer requesting he follow up on who in the workplace is responsible for the receiving of all postage and suggested he contact his local PO which delivers to his workplace, two excellent suggestions I thought, thanks K5. I have not heard anything back as yet.

One thing I have learnt from this is that it appears I must check both ebay invoice address AND paypal payment address; I have never checked seller's paypal address!! only posted to the ebay address unless otherwise advised directly by the buyer... luckily I have never had an issue arise because of this!

(and this particular buyer's ebay and PP posting address is the same)

So thanks for that tip too

Only ever post to the address on the Paypal notification. This is where the buyer can change address details upon checkout.

Some buyers want something sent to someone else, so the paypal addy is the only one you ever send to.

@kitty-kat1234  Thank you for your nice reply it makes a change from the usual snide replies that normally are left.

And yes its no trouble what so ever and takes very little time and I have had nothing but praise from the buyers so far.

But I was actually looking for a answer to the question WHY will PP not recongnise this as posted.  It appears they like to dictate terms to me. That was my point.

PP won't accept it as POP as you could take all the photo's in the world, you could video yourself walking into the post office laden with your parcels, and you could walk right back out again and head off home without posting a thing.

Posting over the counter, getting a receipt for said postage, that will satisfy PP.

Nice to see you again 1sweetap6v8 and I hope you don't mind me pouncing in to answer your question. 🙂

Re: Item posted then tracked to recipient's work address, buyer claims no show

You missed the point or did not read my last comment at all.

What if that parcel with the actual ADRESS correct PP address at that is on the scales at the post office as now when you send you place it on there scales (well you do at my PO) and I say to the post master this is being recorded and i film the entire process of the item being posted including the POST MASTER handing me the receipt and handling the item including them placing it in there bag for delivery and showing the adress while on the scales.

Why would this not be good enough It would more than stand up in a court of law and PP would lose if challenged. There is not a judge in the world that would say it was not posted.

There is no way anyone could dispute it was not sent. And as long as I have disclosed the fact it is being recorded and i record the entire process not just part off it its LEGAL to use in court.

So why will PP not except it.

OH and the changes to this type of post were implemented via talks with ebay and AP at the cost of the consumer yet still a tracked item that clearly was posted is rejected as proof of post.

Forced selective methods buy PP dont make it law.

Just because PP want the casual seller to pay premium on there postage so they can get a higher take on there PP deposit fee which includes the postage which is nothing more than a farce at best as to someone who rarely sells.

1 would not bother with C&S for a single item

2 not even be aware C&S exisists.

3 A blatant excuse to get out of there responsibility as even my PM has openly told me there has never been as many problems as there has been since they started using Indians as delivery drivers.

In fact I have had 3 other peoples items left at my door which I firstly returned to the post office but did not hand over just showed them there incompetence then took it to the real owners and told them to make a complaint as well.

And one was not even in my suburb or had the same number or street name the other 2 were close buy but not mine different number and one a different street as well.

Then there was only a month ago where an item i purchased was delivered buy a woman, who it turns out had my item delivered to her even though the address on the box was 100% correct and she lived in a totally different suburb and street name.

So why should any person bare the responsibility of another companies incompetence.

Hence I take every step possible to ensure Ive done the right thing. And according to the PM at my PO its not uncommon.

I will look into this C&S but my point is if you have taken every step possible to ensure you have done the right thing and have undeniable PROOF why is this not good enough for PP when it would be more than adequet for the law or a judge.

Re: Item posted then tracked to recipient's work address, buyer claims no show

If a buyer opens a not received item case with PayPal, provided they paid with PayPal, and seller cannot prove delivery, then in most cases PayPal will see in favour of the buyer to receive a full refund.

With Australian transactions, the seller has to prove postage not delivery, proof of delivery is USA law not applicable in Aus. The seller needs to provide by proof of postage a lodgement receipt bearing the date and postcode of the buyer's suburb to qualify for Paypal seller protection. Tracking is a bonus but not necessary to prove postage.

I spend enough time queueing in the PO with out being stuck behind some pratt filming the process

and I think the PO staff would have something to say
