Ebay has a specific category for Golliwogs under Dolls. There are over 30 listed. Mine was removed as it was reported and removed under the Hateful & Racist policy. Why would they have a specific category for an item if they are only going to remove it because obviously someone who has issues is offended.!!

I could be totally wrong, but I'm wondering if this is someone witha personal vendetta / agenda, rather than a rival seller. Smacks of overdone ppolitical correctness to me.

It does seem strange that there are still listings in that specific category.
If the policy was to remove hateful /racist listings, why aren't they all gone?
As, as already said, they have a specific category for golliwogs.
No sense!

I think its a seller wide thing. They are just clearing up the rest.... I doubt anyone sat and reported our 85 listings and another sellers 50+ and then all the books... One by One.
I think a decision was made in management.
There are still confederate flags for sale.. just takes time to mop the mess up

You never know - some people have too much time on their hands....
It just seems so strange when there is a category specifically for gollys. by the way, I saw some for sale in the local chemist the other day - perhaps they are making a comeback.
Has anyone contacted ebay?

They would need to have reported over 600 listings with all the books, patterns, badges and dolls deleted today.

Interesting. There have been new listings today.
Some 20 minutes ago. Will they stay?

@lotsamagsnbags wrote:wow - same happeened to me with a book I had listed for a long time -message came in overnight. do you think someone reported it or its just come up in the key words.
so they have a category for dolls? this was a 50s book on how to make them.
I was thinking of using different words like golli doll ? any other suggestions?
its a 50s book so no racism intended its what they were called and what a collector would search for as you know pandora.
My take on this is that the sudden reporting of listings may be related to the Adam Goodes booing controversy. He has returned to AFL football this weekend and it may be that with the AFL having its multicultural round that some eBay member has been browsing eBay and has seen fit to report multiple golliwogs listings as they feel they are offensive.
I may be wrong, and my take may be a stretch, but this is one possible explanation for why listings have suddenly been reported seeing that news stories in many capital cities have reported on Goodes' return to footy.
I looked at the categories and found that eBay actually promote further searches through the related words links.
Then, I noticed that eBay actually have sponsored links at the bottom of search results with the word golliwog in them
As dollyone has posted, maybe eBay should be reporting themselves!

I'm a bit concerned that I found a seller who has golliwogs
listed in 'toys/hobbies >>stuffed animals'

Agree.
I won't say what i'd like to say because then i'd be accused of being racist.

Well, it looks like its a case of ebay being prejudiced against gollywogs.
