Hi
The last three international items that have failed to arrive have all been items posted to Canada. To make matters worse, once the buyers have lodged item not received claims which I close with refunds, I get defects for "item out of stock" (only Canada). Ebay have removed these defects, but is anyone else exeriencing similar issues?

what method of shipping are you using?

Mail both to and from Canada is painfully slow.
Are your buyers allowing enough time for their items to arrive before opening disputes?
If you are sending with full tracking you should be able to see if the item is still in transit and at the very least have seller protection.

Yes. 😞
The last few months, shipping to Canada has been very problematic, with extended delivery delays and missing mail.
I have one regular customer, bless her, who messages me constantly about the arrival (or lack thereof) of her orders, it's quite frustrating but at least I can see her packages are taking an average of 4-5 weeks to be delivered (regular large letters on all except one, no tracking, but occasionally the customs number will be tracked on the Canada Post site). Recently, after about 5 or 6 weeks since postage of one of her orders, she messaged to say she still didn't have it, so I refunded and literally 1 hour later she messaged again to say it just got delivered.
Another customer patiently waited 6 weeks, still no item so I re-sent it yesterday - fingers crossed it actually gets there. 😕

4 or 5 weeks is what i'd expect if mailing to some third world country where it might end up on the back of a donkey going over the andes mountains not sending to a modern country such as canada.
theres really no excuse in 2016 for a length of time like that other than sea mail.
seems as charges are rising for posting anywhere quality of service being provided is going backwards.
at this rate by 2050 it'll cost a million dollars just to get your item taken over the counter at your local post office and there will be no gaurantee it'll ever get delivered.

Sadly, for me too
I had two disputes opened from Canada in the last one month. Thankfully one received the package after 5 weeks, and was very understanding about it. I am stalling the other one hoping the package does show up. 5 weeks have passed on that one so far

Sadly me three
Canada is definately the most risky place I send to. Worse than the Baltic states and South America. Its got to be such a problem, I have been excluding Canada from my new listings.
The only country in the world I do this for.
Its a pretty sad indictement on the Canadian postal system when I would rather send to Mexico, Cuba or the Ukrain ahead of Canada !!!!

Thanks all for your replies - looks like a problem more broadly. I send large letters without tracking so no chance to recover any losses, The last 2 I have refunded after not arriving after 6 weeks

..and I have another dispute for missing item lodged from Canada this morning. In all 4 recent cases, no contact from buyers before they lodge the dispute. And to make sure I don't end up with defects, I refund all before the date the buyer can escallate, even if the buyer is willing to wait longer - its not worth the risk of a defect. So sadly Canada will now be excluded as a shipping option for me.
