This is my first and last post in the Ebay Forum.
I have over 1300 transactions and 100% pos feedback and a lot of years under my belt.
I sold an item to a reasonably newbie, they couldn't use the machine it was too advanced for them.
But turns out the buyer is the members husband and not a member himself at all. So they make a not as described claim (i supplied pics) and now PayPal has supported the claim and i have to refund the $475 dollars Including the $75 post i paid.
Refund to a non member impersonating his wife.
Thats it for me people so if you are expecting support from either Ebay or PayPal forget it. They are supporting Fraud at my expense and i wont have any more part in either PayPal or Ebay.
Careful you Guys, Dont just take it for granted like i did.

Very confusing.
I do not understand the issue with the husband not being the member. If the log on is correct, what difference does it make who uses the keyboard? It remains the same account.
I also do not understand why this makes any difference to an item not as described claim.
However as the OP states it is the one and only posting to ebay forums, I guess I will never find out.:O

To add to my confusion, the first post generated an error message telling me to post again - but apparently unnecessarily.

That is not unusual hogbay....I think most of the duplicate answers are because ebay tells you to post again.:O
Like you, I do not understand the OPs problem with who uses the keyboard. They are dealing with the ebay ID, not the specific person using the keyboard.
My OH uses this ID to buy occasionally (very occasionally) but why should that be a seller's problem...I would be fully responsible for anything bought (as far a paying goes) so why would a seller not stand by any claims originating from the ID.

No one has impersonated anyone-thats just silly IMO.
Also,a not as described is a not as described no matter who buys or trys to use it-if it don't work,it don't work.
And of course you'd be required to refund-upon the return of the item which Paypal will tell the buyers to do so at THEIR own cost, you won't be out of pocket as you'll have your item back.
What a shame you've never read ebay or Paypal policies whilst you were collecting all those years under your belt lol

From what I understand the machine is working but buyer doesn't know how to operate it?
Did you have it returned and is it working?
If so re-list and have pick up only so buyer sees before paying and there is no Paypal protection for the buyer.
As well I would be letting PayPal know it is returned and is working (everything as described).

Obviously you did not defend your corner strongly enough during the initial dispute phase. If you gave Paypal sufficient reason why the item was as described, I would have followed my response up with a phone call making it very clear that if they found in the buyer's favour after them admitting they just did not know how to use it I would be taking it further.
At the end of the day you will only be out the cost f original postage and if this is the first time you have had to shell out in over 1,000 sales it doesn't work out at very much does it!

You may have had 100% feedback when you decided that ebay was no longer for you but you have received negs and neuts in the past.
Your last feedback (as a seller) was received back in Feb and even then you followed up a positive with a silly negative response. ?:|

If the machine works as it should and the product model etc was clearly stated in the listing, it's not your fault that the machine was too advanced for them. They should have known that before buying. Postage should be their expense too.
