I got an order in Saturday evening and it was to a parcel locker in a location pretty near to me so rather than doing my morning post at my local post office I jumped on a bus and went to the PO where the parcel locker is. I asked if it would be put in the locker which was about 15 feet away from where was was and they said no it would have to go to the sorting office first. So rather than the buyer being able to collect the item they bought today they will at best get it tomorrow. if it does not get heldup in underwood for days which happens to often.

Ridiculous. Guess they need the trail of tracking points though.
Does AP manage the locker you went to? That might make a difference, too. If it wasn't strictly a post office but a service station etc. then they would be more likely to have to follow AP procedure to the "letter".
Shows that it could be an idea to make pick-up lockers, drop-off lockers as well.

Yes it is AusPost I get my returns sent there and the ladies in the post office put the stuff into the lockers also they manage to take them out when I owe money and hold them for ransom in the post office 😉
Just annoys me the buyer has to wait, there an extra risk of it being misplaced/damaged they only had to take 20 steps. Now it will go to Underwood tonight hopefully return to the post office tomorrow they will then take it and put it in the parcel locker had to bite my lip in the post office but I am sure a few veins popped up.

Surely you've been dealing with Aus Post long enough to realize that they work to a system that preserves the integrity of the service they provide, would you have them compromise that integrity because you think your customer should have his/her purchase today instead of tomorrow - How long is your handling time?

So sending the parcel to a sorting center so they can send it back to the PO it came from preserves the integrity of the service they provide pray tell how you work that out? What has my handling time got to do with anything?
There is nothing to say they will even get it tomorrow I have seen plenty of parcel sit for up to a week in underwood that are going somewhere locally so it may even take until next week for a parcel to travel 15 feet nice

Sending mail to a sorting centre is an integral part of the process, if this is not the case then why bother with it at all! This is the procedure and I would imagine that any breeches to this procedure would find the perpetrator in a lot of strife. Your handling time is indicated at 3 days yet you are annoyed that you cant have the puchased item in the buyers hands an hour after purchase - all I can deduce from that is that your very easily annoyed, or you forgot to take your meds today.
How do you know how long parcels sit in Underwood PO for? Are you invited by the staff to inspect all the mail at the PO? I think not, you just made that up about how long parcels sit at Underwood. You say, "There is nothing to say they will even get it tomorrow" equally there is nothing to say that your parcel wont be in the buyers locker tomorrow - Sorry, you have'nt made a case for your rant, get over it.

One could quite easily argue that is called bureaucracy, not system integrity.

So the, " plenty of parcels" has now become, " my parcels" and with tracking - this makes your rant all the more stupid - Your rant was intended to find some sympathy for not being able to get your own way, bad luck all round I would say.

Yes. As it is an AP outlet, so should be capable of accepting the parcel into the system and coordinating its travel by the most direct route (still trackable) to the recipient.
The fact it must go via a sorting centre, rather than straight to the next point right there, isn't efficient.
I can fully appreciate why they said no (procedure) but it shows how daft the procedure, can be.
