Make an offer added to new listings.

50 New listings added today and now I find Ebay have added Make An Offer on all of them for offers down to half the price

,I have gone through a lot of them and changed the offers to 1 cent under the real price,It was faster doing it on my phone than going into the full listing and correcting.

Why are they doing this.??

Its such a waste of time for sellers if an offer is made .I wont be accepting any offers for an item half the price that its listed,

Make an offer added to new listings.

You also need to be aware that ebay sometimes turns on the auto accept so that your items will actually sell for half price without you being given the chance to reject the offer.

For some reason they are forcing this onto some sellers. You can turn the offer off, but often they will interfere and turn it back on again. If you tick all the affected listings, you can change it by editing in bulk.

Can you then appeal against this, or would you be forced to go ahead with the sale? How can eBay get away with forcing this onto sellers?

The only thing I have noticed with my listings, is that when an items ends, and the suggestion to "relist" is there, "best Offer" is ticked by default. I do not have this selected on the original listings. It would be easy not to notice this before relisting.

I don't think this is a good idea.    Buyers (most of them) make an offer in good faith, expecting to save a few dollars - they get seriously annoyed if their offer is rejected when they are very close to the original price - "why have best offer at all?" they say

you would be better off bulk editing and removing the option altogether.

I can't believe eBay are still doing this, at best it's unethical, at worst illegal.

An easy way to check and correct this condition:

Go to active listings and select "best offer" in the dropdown for "item title".

This will bring up a list of all titles either with or without best offer (your choice).

You can then easily edit all affected listings in bulk.
