Mark as recieved ???

Hi there,

Just wondering what your thoughts were on a "Mark Received" function so that sellers have some idea if a customer has ...... well received an item, I know your going to say well they simply leave feedback so that is proof of item being received. Not in all cases, I have a few buyers that haven't left feedback and I would really like to know that they have received the item at least so that I don't have an issue in the future with coming to me months down the track and say they are still waiting for their item.

Anyway my thoughts are that Ebay could make it a compulsory action to be taken by the buyer and if they do not mark as received within say 2 months then they receive a reminder email to do so.

The reason I say make it compulsory is because if not it would just be like feedback and the seller would be left hanging.

Re: Mark as recieved ???

Bright Byte, I have sold in the past (nothing to compare with others here) .Now I just buy.I try to  see things from both sides and to treat others as I would like to be treated...though remembering that what is happening is a business transaction ....as a seller it was very much in my best interest to do so.

As a buyer it is over for me when I received what I paid for.It is mine.End of transaction....anything else I do is up to me .

If there is a problem a seller can rest assured that I will let them know...even if I haven't left feedback and/or left it in a time frame they think reasonable.

Re: Mark as recieved ???

I actually agree that eBay has become a little more impersonal, and somewhat to its detriment. I don't necessarily want to start life-long friendships with my buyers or sellers, but as a seller, I ignore eBay's push for no communication and send every single buyer a direct, personalised message after purchase and payment.

It's very straight to the point, and along with a thank you, contains only information I feel is relevant and not really provided by any of eBay's automated emails (I've switched off all the ones I can), but the most important reason I do it is because it opens up the way for direct communication if something goes wrong, and to this date only one person has not gotten in touch with me about a problem before leaving feedback (and the neg was because the item was as described).

But all that being said, I'm not so sure a 'mark as received' button will make things less impersonal from the buyer's perspective - it would be an eBay function, and would perhaps exclude the sense that a buyer is communicating something to a seller.

Re: Mark as recieved ???

I have been buying on ebay since 2001, everytime when I receive item/s as soon as I leave feedback I also email the seller to let them know I received the item and that everything is okay or not.

9 times out of 10 the seller will email me back saying they appreciate my letting them know everything is fine.

I have always thought it was courtesy to do so.
