Thanks to whoever can listen and provide me with any help or information.
I recently made a new eBay account (not this account) for my Dad and I to sell some coins from our coin collection. In the past my dad had an eBay account (he couldn't remember the password or recover it due to an old email) and this account I am posting on is my personal account I didn't want to use for our joint collection. I believe it isn't against the policy, and I went ahead and made a new account for us.
So I listed some coins. A couple of days later our account gets suspended and the email states:
After reviewing your eBay account, we've noted several concerns with your recent activity. As a result, we've taken the following action on your account:
- Your eBay account has been suspended.
- Item listings have been removed. A list of removed items is available further down in this email.
We've taken this precaution to protect our members while we make sure that the activity doesn't cause harm -- however unintentionally -- to the eBay community.
While suspended, you won't be able to use eBay. Registering a new account may hinder any option to appeal your account. If you would like to appeal this action, we need to verify your account information and your eBay activity directly with you.
Any outstanding fees owed for selling activity will post to your account as due. Any amounts that you haven't previously disputed will be charged to the billing method currently on file.
If you have questions about this message, please click Help at the top of most eBay pages.

Okay, I then started a live chat and asked what the issue was. I was informed "As a newly registered user, it is necessary for us to have everyone verified in order to keep the market place safe. What we do is we check your identity and the items that you are selling/buying." and "not to worry as this is just a part of your account confirmation". I was asked to provide proof of identity and proof of address, which I did. After approximately 24 hours our account was reinstated and I proptly relisted our items.
A few days later our account is suspended again! I get the same email, and go to start a live chat. No agent would tell me why our account was suspended, they couldn't divulge the reason as it could lead to sellers trying to work around it (fair enough, but how else am I meant to explain I haven't intentionally done anything wrong and correct the issue). I could not appeal as apparently the first suspension was an appeal even though it was "just a part of account confirmation". They say I can no longer use eBay and any other accounts linked will also be suspended, when asking for further details or if there is anyone else to talk to it's just a merry-go-round of generic responses from the agents.
I have gone through the selling policy and I cannot see anything that I could have done wrong. After reading some posts in the forums, the only things I could think of are that in the listings I said "contact us if you have any issues", which could be something? I believe my PayPal was linked, but do recall seeing something about confirming my account (even though I thought I already did). I honestly don't understand if it was something as simple as that, why wouldn't they ask for further details instead of suspending us?
With no call centre and no one else to speak to other than agents who all seem to choose pre-typed responses, do I have any other options?
Thanks again for taking the time to read it.

It could possibly have something to do with your Dad's old account, in which case any account ebay consider to be linked to that account will be suspended. You might have to try harder to resurrect the Old account, if it was not actually blocked by ebay.

I know with Managed Payments sellers are no longer allowed to list coins.
Maybe your coins triggered something within ebay even though your are
not with Managed Payments.
Only a suggestion.

It might have something to do with the new managed payments system that came into effect a few weeks ago - payments are now processed through Adyen, and Paypal has been removed from the equation. As part of the new requirements for sellers, they have had to identify themselves by uploading certain ID docs such as a passport or drivers licence and all payments are now sent to a bank account. I'm not sure if you would have had to go through that process yet as it is still being rolled out and you may have been able to register under the old requirements.
As part of this overhaul, the listing of coins is no longer permitted.
It's also possible that your dad's old account had a balance owing and that needs to be resolved.

Thank you for the responses. As far as we are aware (but not 100%) my dad's account wasn't suspended and we had all previous fees paid. I don't believe there was anything linking our accounts, as my details were used for this account.
I was not aware of this Managed Payments business but I have now read up a bit on it. It could be the reason, although strange that we were never informed during the first suspension that the items we were listing were prohibited. I think I'll have to wait until the future when the call centre opens in the hopes of being able to talk to someone and plead our case.

Your accounts would be linked if any one of your addresses, IP addresses, phone numbers or email addresses are the same

Okay thank you for that information, they may be linked by IP then.
I managed to ask an agent on live chat about Managed Payments and confirm that my account was not signed up for it. Tomorrow I will try to find out if our account is linked to any previous ones and maybe rule that issue out too.
