When a buyer doesn't pay... many emails later,.... eBay opens an unpaid item case, which buyer ignores - and that buyer continues to NOT pay for many of his "purchases" but retains his 100% feedback rating. This is not right. People ae being caught and wasting so much time on this sort of thing. WHY can't you leave a negative feedback for a NON-paying "buyer"?

hey Bargains, I understand that your intentions for mentioning the name had good intentions, BUT, we're just board members like you, we don't make the rules, eBay does that, and a company called Lithium, moderates and makes sure that we apply those rules.
They're black and white, it's not substantive, there are no exceptions, the line in the sand is no members can be named.
There are a gazillion great reasons why at times a member "should" be named according to our opinions, and you have raised one, but in the interests of a Formal Equality, all are treated the same, so we can't name anyone. It's just how it is.
I would think a lot of it has to do with defamation laws etc -
Partts of the rules we have to abide by are in the User Agreement, and general Board Usage Policy is here for your purusal.

If eBay were truly concerned about defamation laws there would be no negative feedback for sellers.
I rest my case.

You can always take it to court. The usual avenue for defamation claims, so why should eBay be any different.

Starting to get off topic here. Can we forget about the policy of typing usernames....I totally get it now.
Other then the seller may have a problem with me in the past, any other reasons why they do it?

Kids having "fun" .... like prank phone calls...
People who are clueless about responsible buying
People making spur of the moment purchases that they don't really want or need
Buyers you may have got on the wrong side, for no fault of your own, or a fault of your own that you have or have not realised.
Buyers who have spotted a better buy at a better price
Buyers who are not familiar with ebay, without realising they have purchased, or are not confident to go through with the purchase
Iphones, cats, dogs, spilt coffee cups that accidently purchase things
And for numerous other reasons
They are all non-paying pests IMO

Because they can.
Really, there are people out there who seem to get kicks from buying and then not paying. Or they buy late on Saturday (or any day ending in 'day') night and then when they sober up decide they can't afford it/don't want it...
Or they bid on several of the same items and paid for the cheapest one.
Or, the common reason they give, they had to go to hospital, their aunt/uncle/mother/father/daughter/son/bil/sil/mil/fil/grandfather/grandmother/cat/dog... died unexpectedly. Many times a year usually.

Would anyone know if they get anything out of this. There has been no contact between me and this person so its not like they have any of my account details because I havent selected it to be sent automatically after the auctioned ended as their is an option for it.
Am I reading this correctly? When you bid on and win an auction the seller does not get your details?
