Unbelievable..Not one sale this Christmas week can you believe this?? sure delivery times etc etc but in previous years people have brought well into the last days of Christmas..despite not getting their purchase till after the day..this has easily been the WORST year we've experienced on E-Bay..and the line about they don't make money if you don't sell is a furphy...there is this thing called "Listing Fees" which add up when items are auto re-listed and despite the "free listings" Maybe one of my New Years resolutions is to learn about selling a different way and give EBay the finger.. This used to be such a great place to be now its depressingly awful..thanks EBay for a wonderful Christmas...

Hmm, maybe it just depends what people are looking for. I did pretty well with sales going right into today, however more than half my sales were to the buyers in the UK, NZ and the US. Last week saw my highest sales for a week this year.

It is hardly fair to blame ebay if people are not buying what you are selling.

yes. my sister is down 50% on sales compared to this time last year and the year before.
she is going to close her ebay account and open shop online like quite a few are doing nowdays.
IMO,ebay;s days are limited.

Plonkacolin,
DVD sales are going to keep going down - more and more people are signing up to Netflix etc.
Personlly, I haven't bought a DVD for more than 5 years now, there's no reason to do so with so much content online.

IMO,ebay;s days are limited.
If I had a dollar for every time I had read that on the boards in the last 12 or more years I would be too busy spending my money to continue to sell on ebay.
Ebay may have morphed into something different than it was in the beginning and it will probably continue to change but the idea that its days are numbered is not plausible.

Agree totally PJ. It seems the ones that say it the most are the ones who's sales are dropping. Plenty of people are still doing well and their businesses are growing. Maybe, just as eBay is changing, some sellers need to also change. That is, changing the products they have on offer. Some products that would have walked out the door 10 years ago, are a dying item now. I'll use DVD's as an example. What someone else said is true. More and more people are viewing content online, so no longer buy as many DVD's. You don't see many people selling new release video tapes because the interest isn't there any more.
While I've had a few quiet weeks here and there this year, my sales are pretty constant most of the time. I don't sell huge amounts, but I'm not trying to either. I have a regular job, I am not trying to make this my regular job. I enjoy the odd quiet week as it gives me a chance to catch up on things.
Sellers who have this as their main income and are struggling, may need to introduce new items into their product line to keep up with current demand. I am far from being an eBay expert, but common sense has to tell you that if sales are continually dwindling, then it's time to introduce new stuff. I'm not saying stop selling the other stuff, just have have a different line of products to lure the buyers in.

You better tell m_eleven10 that DVDs are dying as they only sold 4378 in the past month, same with superstarmedia1 (2894), sanity (2805), baraka43 (1879) ozfalcon2801 (996), but I guess you guys sell a bucket more of what ever you sell.

There is a significant difference between a brand store with a B&M presence and an online only seller of, possibly used, DVDs.
The brand seller is answerable to Fair Trading, for a start, and is more likely to stock new releases.
