Hi All,
Back again with a doubt. Can anyone help me figure out how I can have a parcel post sticker like the one in image and stick on a domestic letter to add tracking?
Find attached the image so that you can get a clear idea. Normally all parcels less than 500 gms are charged around $7.15 by eBay. Any idea how this can be acheived and what would be the cost?
Its from an item I bought on ebay and it defnitely did not have a margin of more than $7. So guessing there should be a cheaper way of sending itmes through domestic letter with tracking.
Best Regards
Thalha

Some post offices have used those stickers in place of registered stickers before, though I don't know how likely registered would have been used, either.
It's possible the seller has access to the stickers for their parcels and are using them for letters, too, going by the postage paid stamp, they would at least have an account, if not a negotiated contract (stickers like that are an optional, paid extra for sellers on contract rates, I believe, but as it states, they are supposed to be used strictly on parcels. A letter sized article can be sent as a parcel, I've received a few letters that were sent as parcels via eParcel, but without knowing the postage paid, it would be impossible to tell which service - letter or parcel - was actually paid for).

I sent a standard 500g parcel to NSW about a week ago, and because their printer was down, instead of using a PC-generated postage paid sticker, the girl used postage stamps instead, along with a parcel post tracking sticker as per the OP's image. Being a #1 padded bag, I've no idea why she used all low-value stamps because she had to overlap them all to make them fit!

I send most of my items by large letter and have researched this in great detail. The only way to get tracking on a letter is to pay for registered post, which even the item weighs between 250 and 500 gram and therefore fits into the largest price brcket of $350, is still slightly cheaper than a parcel at $7.45.
Letter A - <125gm cost $1.40 plus registered post at $3.75 ($3.10 if you buy the stickers in bulk) Max Total $5.15
Letter B - 126-250gm cost $2.10 plus registered post at $3.75 Max Total $5.85
Letter C - 251-500gm cost $3.50 plus registered post at $3.75 Max Total $7.25
Having said that, I rarely register my items, I self insure. IE. I factor in the cost of replacing 2-3 orders a year and just replace if they go missing (only ever happened once so far). I also photograph my letter post items on the PO counter with the Auspost sticker and stamp in place in case I need proof of posting. If I had a difficult customer who was not happy with a replacement and opens a Paypal case, I have evidence of posting and should win the case.
As for the item you received, judging by the postage paid stamp, they are a business customer and probably have special rates as the sticker they have used is generally for parcels only. I asked about adding tracking stickers and was told definitely not for letters, you have to pay for registered if you want tracking.
