Most sellers will not tell you what courier they are using so it is very hard to avoid them.
If on the offchance you do know that Fastways is being used, ask the seller if they will authorise a Safe drop before sending the parcel.
There is a box to tick to allow Safe Drop and it is very convenient.
I get a regular package from North Queensland (I am in Sydney) and I usually order in the evening. With the Safe Drop box ticked I always receive the package on the morning of the second day....about 36 hours after paying.
I have never had a problem getting a redelivery using Safe Drop either....I always do it via the website.
I must say the Fastway service has improved 100% since they introduced the Safe Drop option. If only sellers could be persuaded to authorise it before sending the item it would make courier delivery so much better for the buyers.

So let me get this straight. Fastways is the worst courier out because you weren't at home to accept delivery? How were they meant to know you weren't going to be home? If you're never home during the day, why not get parcels sent to your workplace?
I hope you're not going to punish the seller because you now consider the parcel to be overdue. It sounds like delivery was attempted in good time, it's not the sellers fault you weren't home and can't go to the depot to collect it.

It seems pretty clear from antus666 post they're not complaining that Fastway tried to deliver when they weren't home, but that redelivery is proving difficult to arrange and that Fastway's depot opening hours are of limited use to anyone working regular business hours wanting to pick up from the depot.
And without wanting to speak on behalf of antus, there are many reasons to not have items to delivered to a work address. The issue here seems to be that with any other delivery method (Aus Post, other courier) not being home for a delivery isn't a big issue as after hours pickup or redelivery is an easy option.
While I don't advocate "punishing" a seller for their choice of delivery method, I'd hope that the seller had made it clear in the listing that Fastway is the carrier for the item - I've made several purchases where Fastway was used despite the listing designating 'Australia Post' or 'Express Post' as the delivery method. Unnecessary runaround because of a different delivery service to that stated in the listing is something I would at least message the seller about, and possibly also mention in feedback, depending on the circumstances.

I have also been caught by sellers who use courier delivery after listing items with delivery by Australia Post. It makes steam come out of my ears. Thankfully many couriers are allowing Safe Drop...but not all.
As for picking up at a courier depot....that is not as easy as it sounds. Many depots are located in industrial areas or well out of the way in cheap rent areas. Rarely are they located in an area that is convenient for pickup.
And the hours are not condusive to the general public being able to pick up either. They start as early as 5am with the office staff starting at 7am. They can finish at all hours but the office staff is usually gone by 4pm or at the latest 4.30pm. While couriers will often work over the weekend, there is no office staff for pickups.

A week after ordering something I had not received my goods so I contacted the seller who gave me a parcel tracking number.
The Fastway website indicated that an attempt had been made to deliver and a card left but I found no card.
I rang Fastway and was told goods were in the depot located in Port Melbourne, which for me would be a problem, so they agreed to re-deliver without a signature.
One week and several phone calls later and still no parcel I am eventually informed my stuff has been at a depot near my home for the last 12 days so I drove down and collected it.
I don't believe any attempt was ever made to deliver to my home and the system is to deliver to a local depot for collection, I just wish someone had told me that.

THEY ARE THE WORST I have had to search for hours to find a item sent to me ....so **bleep** off with the stupid women
she just dropped it off at some shop who asked will you give this to this guy.....go to anyone but these hopeless pricks

Were you left a card to collect your item from the shop?
If so, then that is the Fastway version of Safe Dropping the item instead of you having to collect it from their depot which has shorter hours for collection and is probably a lot further away from you.

Called them 3 times in regards to my redelivery, twice the request for delivery was missed and third time they delivered it on the only day I told them not to. Stay home for many unnecessary occasions and still no parcel. Hopeless!
I doubt as you'll get a reply to your post as Barnett started this topic over 7 years ago

And very little has changed with Fastways in that time.
