Hi is anyone else experienceing a dramatic decrease in sales? I changed my listing to "free postage" by incorporating the shipping into the price and that is the only thing I have done differently.

I hav e noticed that not only are my sales down, but no-one seems to be looking. Where I used to get maybe 20 views per item, at least, I am now lucky to get 3 or 4, and that is on a 7 day listing. I suspect the larger gallery pictures have something to do with it. Once you had to go into the listing to see what an item really looked, but now you can just skim over.

Just done my monthly figures for the stores and they have come in just above long term average. I have spent a fair bit of time on ebay in the past fortnight putting up new listings and this is certianly driving sales. I used all of the 150 free listings on my non store account and have bids on around sixty items with animated bidding on some. One $50 item that has remained unsold after five relists over previous months is up to $140 so have been very suprised at the seemingly renewed interest and sales in the past week. ( also seeing the return of some old regular buyers who have been very quiet recently ) Its nice to be able to report something positive after several months of difficult trading.

I'm in the development of making a new website store for my products. I aim to make flashy yet simple graphics using photoshop and learning wordpress during the process.
Now I just have to work out how to drive more traffic to the website once its up. I heard adword and facebook ads are quite good, so a bit of investing into those should be equivalent to my eBay fees..
and SEO.. boy i have no idea what to do about SEO!!!

We are also just testing our new website. Hope to be able to go live soon. A bit pre-occupied with house moving tho, so a bit slow.
We used a professional developer who also happens to be a family friend so getting quite good advice.
According to him good SEO is of utmost importance in getting your new site "learned" about. He is a specialist in this area and has designed in several features to optimise this.
We will be trying Adwords and Facebook at first too. His advice as well.
We tried Adwords last year on our eBay site but we were unable to attribute a single sale to spending about $125. There was discernable increase in sales during the perios we used it, about 6-weeks. So we concluded it was of little use to ebay listings.
We have not tried Facebook yet. Although we have setup a page on there and made one sale so far.
We are also trying Quicksales. Not a single sale in the first month. But quite a few clicks tho.

Read this article and comments to follow ref. Why Have Online Retail Sakes Flatlined?
http://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2014/07/why-have-online-retail-sales-flatlined/
especially like comment, ref. just released flatlined online sales stats from the National Australia Bank:
"Quality…..severe lack of.
Confidence…..again massive lack of that is not picked up by stats.
Dollar….not as much as above.
Energy…..depletion is real and people know it.
and DEBT……severe glut of it......"

I believe you but I think present situation is partly being engineered/manipulated by the powers to be. I remember seeing this same thing happening from about 4 years ago over on the USA ebay site.....also seems like the banksters are engineering the pollies and everyone else in authority in Oz to edge towards a recession-just my opinion.

My sales have plummated for the past 6 months....
June sales $550.00 ebay fees June $226.00,just checked invoice, since the postage has been incorporated into FVF's I'm paying so much more..
Might need to consider other options..

I have also been in retail for over 20 years and June, July & August are traditionally good months for my products. It really depends on what you are selling as to the best sales periods. I have just had the worst week ever on eBay, however my other website did quite well. Not as good as the same period last several years but I am happy with the result. eBay has just died for me. I will give it a while longer and then decided wether it is worth persevering.
