I have sold an item worth $120 to a buyer from Nigeria and am worried it may be some sort of a scam buyer.
Should I go ahead and post in good faith, considering if the buyer files a complaint , eBay will take the side of the buyer and issue a refund. I always post signature on delivery with tracking.

NO.....
Dont post it, (a) it will never turn up (b) if it does it will be 6 months and you would have already given a refund (c) its was paid for with a stolen credit card....or (d) all of the above. Wait for an Australian buyer and send it with tracking. PS change your setting so you dont ship to Africa.

I dont have any restrictions on the countries I post to and most of the time things go OK. I only have slightly higher problems with OS post than sending within Australia. I dont sell items which are likely to attract scammers and most of my customers are pretty genuine and need the item, rather than discretionary spends. This probably helps. The items I sell cost me very little, but often have mark ups of 500%-1000%, so I can afford to lose the occasional one and really only lose the postage cost.
I add an extra $1 to international postage costs as self insurance and this covers any occasional problems.. International sales make up around 25% of my sales and often take the more unusual items that may have a restricted market within Australia. Basically it depends on what you sell, but unrestricted international sales can be useful if you view ebay as a business, are willing to play the odds and dont take it all too personally.
