Sold 2 tickets 3wks ago. Refunded price..buyer wants me to purc him tickets

What a debacle after selling many many items. A buyer purchased tickets to Future Music Festival in Syd. He lives in Melb. I live on Gold Coast.

Somehow I posted him Bne tickets ( concert in Bne on on this Sat 2/ March) - I really don't know how I did. Don't even know that I did. This was on the 15 Feb.

Last night he send me a message saying he only just opened them and they are for Brisbane. I said I would refund his money - which I did immediately through Paypal and met his request of an extra 20 towards the extra cost of 40 for more tickets.

I asked him to express post the tickets back immediately today so I egt them by Fri and can hopefuly sell them for the Brisbane concert on this Saturday.

Problem is Syd concert is nearly a sell out now and tickets are becoming more expensive. he has sent a number of threatening texts saying it is my duty to buy him Syd tickets as that is what he purchased from me. I sort of said that if he had of checked the tickets when he first recived them two weeks ago this would not be an issue now.

I have said if he sends the tickets express...I will directly deopsit extra moeny in his account to cover the express postage and $20 extra towards the new tickets as he initially asked me to meet him halfway. 

He is also doubting I have revered his Paypal transaction and is considering not returning Bris tickets to me.

Any advice of feedback from more expereinced sellers would be appreicated.

If he bought an expensive vase and in broke it transit...I woud refund the cost...but it would not be my resposiblity to find him an equally priced cheap vase.

If I had the Syd ones I would have sent them. I was sure I did.

I would have checked them immediatley as I opened them.

Have refunded immediately. offered 20 twoards purchase of more expensive ones and will refund return express post.

If he does not post express imeediately I have l lost the $250 full stop.

I am so upset about this but he is sending me texts saying I am selfish in cpaital letters.

He asked me to contribute 20 - in his words meeting him halfway. Now he is stating I should buy him the tickets, as it is my error. Surely he should have checked the tickets 14 days ago when he got them.

Honestly so stressed about this - could not sleep last night.

Any one can make a mistake, I think you have done all you can to apologise and fix it. Let it go now, the buyer can not open any dispute as you have refunded in full and over the purchase/post costs as well which is more than fair IMO (also don't think paypal offer protection on tickets). If it were me I would have asked for a pic of the tickets before refunding, you did not even make the buyer do that so you have been helpful from the beginning. The buyer is obviously upset and disappointed, but there is no way they could force you to purchase Syd tickets and I would most certainly not be feeling bad about it as I say we all make mistakes. The buyer's mistake was he didn't check as soon as he got them.

You should NEVER have refunded before they returned the tickets to you.

They now have tickets,refund & extra money-correct ?

JMO but I would say they are a criminal for their behaviour at the moment.

JMO but you have gone WAYYY beyond what you should have even though it was your alleged error to start with.

I would phone them & demand immediate return of the 'wrong' tickets.

I would also cancel the tickets-if you can-to stop them from selling them themselves.

His actual suggestion now is that I don't reverse Paypal transaction and instead buy him tickets (not being able to verify seller authenticity) and then post them to him.

Gosh if I do that he can still claim money through Paypal anwhere in next 45 days...I have lost supposedly wrong Bris tickets, paid for new tickets and lost money I have spent on his new tickets.

If I was going to defraud him or that was my intention then I would not have instantly peversed his paypal payment, would I have?

I am letting it go. With how angry he is I don't believe he will make the effort necessary to return the tickets. However if he does not return them I will be less than inclined to deposit compensatory money in his account. I appreciate that it takes him some effort to do so....but I have refunded his money immediately so her's hoping that he realises if I get the tickets and can then sell them in time - he has more chance of getting compensatory moeny from me. I will pay him for his postage regardless

At best he will return the tickets and I will be $40 down for postage and compensatory money as I have a buyer for them if they are returned in time tomorrow.

At worst I have lost $250 and the comfort/ knowledge that I thought I was a fair ebay seller.

In my mind I have written off the $250 and will tweak our food budget to cover the loss in the next few eeks...Lokks like lots of Bol and no steaks for a few weeks.

I did not do this on purpose and am truly sorry if it was indeed my error.

I'd be asking for a photo, I think they are pulling your chain and found a nice easy way to fleece you. Your call, but it would put it back in his court then, and if no pic is forth coming you have your answer. Might even advise that you have cancelled the Syd ticket - just to P them off a bit more. But then, I can be mean :^O

The purchaser has been sending text messages so surely it would be too easy to take a quick photo of the tickets and sms that to you too as proof. I think you were very generous refunding before it was proven to you that you had in fact sent the wrong tickets. If it was me who had received the tickets in error I would certainly have given the seller proof.
