THOUGHTS PLEASE

Sold a Lisa Jackson book & buyer said would pay in a week (didn't ask, just told me). Three days later told me to cancel - not requested, told. I opened an unpaid item dispute after 4 days as I'm wary of cancellations, defects, neg feedback - the whole ball & dice. Explained to her what I was doing & why & put her on my BBL. Today sold another Lisa Jackson book to a person who only opened her acct today, with the same address as the first buyer. Wrote to her & asked was she the same person with the same address & similar email to first person, & if she wanted to buy another book she could have contacted me. Reply - never heard of her & I only moved in on weekend - oh yeah!! Small world!! What would you do - Send & hope she's not maliciously inclined - neg feedback for some unproveable point etc.. By the way she hasn't paid yet - that is supposed to happen tomorrow - same day as the other buyer!! Any constructive comments appreciated.

Re: THOUGHTS PLEASE

phone ebay and ask if it's the same person....tell them you've blocked her and that she may have opened a new a/c to 'get around' their policies

Re: THOUGHTS PLEASE

I would contact eBay and report the buyer(s).

I had a buyer get upset over being blocked and they used several accounts to then leave malicious FB for me, luckily I was able to prevent payment (and FB due to the UPI process) on some, and got the FB removed on the rest. I did not send any of the items that were paid for, because the buyer had demostrated from earlier purchases that they were not trustworthy (hence the reason for the block), rather I got eBay to put it in writing for me that they advised I was allowed to cancel and refund because the buyer(s) had used other IDs to circumvent my blocks.

Your buyer may not have any malicious intentions at all, so which route you take will be a personal choice, but I strongly recommend getting this buyers actions on record with eBay either way.

Re: THOUGHTS PLEASE

What a ridiculous lie. That's hilarious.

I couldn't bring myself to sell to such a horrible, rude, arrogant, lying so-and-so like this person. I would simply cancel the transcation and put her new username on my BBL too. I understand this creates issues in itself but stuff them.

Of course that's just me. 😉

Re: THOUGHTS PLEASE

Rang Ebay - no help whatsoever - they will escalate - but give the buyer the benefit of the doubt & send if paid for.

Not likely & leave myself open to who knows what??

So, decided to send a reply to her as below:-.

"Hi ...

I just need to know that I'm dealing with a legitimate buyer, so probably better off not to pay for the book at this stage, as I'm reluctant to send book until I'm sure that this is an OK account & not created to get around a block (which you're not allowed to do on Ebay)

I've reported this account & the other account to Ebay, so they can investigate the coincidence of the same address & similar email addresses (both have the number 133 after the account name.)

They are escalating the case to their Trust & Security section & will contact you regarding any details they need (I think they check where the ISP provider is etc..)

Hope this doesn't cause any inconvenience & if you decide not to go ahead with the transaction let me know.

Regards
Lynne"

Hope this was the right thing to do, but don't want to cancel & leave myself open to any neg feedback - which Ebay told me is basically my problem, as it would be a reflection of her experience.

They just talked around the fact that the new account was probably opened to circumvent the block & told me to give her the "benefit of the doubt" This is the first time I've ever had a situation like this & the very first time I've ever had to ring Ebay - for no help at all - apart from the escalation. Who knows if they even take it seriously - I suspect not.

Next problem - how the heck do I get paragraphs in this text - I put them is & they come out as one huge paragraph.

Re: THOUGHTS PLEASE

You could probably cancel selecting the reason there's a problem with the buyer's address.

Since there has been some form of correspondence between you and the buyer its likely that the bots won't issue you a defect I would think.

She is probably unlikely to approve the cancellation request and may indeed do nothing. In which case after 10-days it times out and your fees will be refunded.

The other way to do it is to hope she still does not pay then issue a non-payment dispute after exactly 4-days, then after another exactly 4-days (if she still doesn't pay) close it.

If she pays somewhere along the line then you have to send the item and hope for the best I reckon.
