I purchased a camera from an Australian Camera Supplier in Western Australia. I was referred to him via Whirlpool forums and he had the best price I could find. The supplier covers the camera under their warranty for 12 months.
I had to sell the camera and some storage disks as I had some expensive dental work to pay for unfortunately.
I started the bid from $1 and it ended up selling for $1000.
Now the buyer is complaining that I misled him saying that the camera I purchased was from a grey importer and not an australian supplier. The company I purchased the camera from is a registered company in Australia. He sells photographic equipment to professionals and on his website is very transparent about his warranties etc etc. .
The buyer is nasty and complaining that the warranty isn't good enough. I had in my listing that it was from an Australian Supplier and was under 12 months warranty. Nothing I have said has been a lie or misleading. There were lots of people bidding for the camera.
Now he is saying he is going to lodge a complaint with paypal. I'm very upset about this and I don't know what to do. I've done nothing wrong and I wish I had the camera back and hadn't had to sell it becasue it was a lovely camera. .
Anyway, any feedback form anyone would be really appreciated.
Cheers

but wouldn't it be paypal Australia I need to speak to?
When you ring the paypal Australia toll free number it goes direct to paypal in the USA...you speak to Americans. I imagine if you ring their American number from overseas you will pay for the call, which might get a bit expensive as you will be ringing during their regular hours and may have to hold on for a while.
If possible I would wait till you can ring the Aussie number....let them pay for the call.
I think you have 10 days to respond to the dispute before paypal will make any decision so a short wait will not disadvantage you as much as a direct phone call will affect your phone bill.

there were five bidders, including the high bidder, who bid above $850. Giving a full refund and doing a second chance offer to first or second underbidder would probably see the OP getting more $ than negotiating an outcome with the buyer.

I was just reading the last message from the buyer: " AUSTRALIAN Camera supplier. What part of Australian camera do you not understand. This item ships from China.I know it has warranty but an Australian camera has manufacturers warranty I.e Nikon
Why did you not advertise this as a grey market import???"
I think this guy has it around the wrong way because from my viewpoint, an Australian Camera Supplier is a Camera Supplier who is Australian ie, based in Australia - not necessarily a camera supplier that sells Australian cameras, which is what he is trying to say. Just interested in people's views on this. . .
Also, I didn't even know what a "grey market import" was when I listed the camera. . so why didnt he ask me and why didn't he ask me what kind of warranty? And now I'm losing sleeping and getting all upset over this clown who is trying to put the wind up me over HIS stupidity in bidding on an item he didn't even bother researching properly and then turning around and trying to make the item is SNAD!!
If I have submitted my case story and supporting documentation to paypal, how long does it usually take for them to come to a decision?

When you bought the camera from the WA firm, did it arrive to you packaged from China with Chinese postage paid on it? If it did, then that would indicate that the WA firm was dropshipping the item from China. If it did happen this way then that is what has got the buyer in a tizz.
