If you accept the unlimited free offered you have to pay the listing fee of $1.50 for every item you sell is the way I read this offer. As a lot of what I sell is at low prices I make even less profit.

Don't know where you get that from...........
What is the Promotion? Pay no Insertion fees on items you list and make available for purchase during the Promotion Period in Fixed Price or Auction-style format on eBay.com.au.

Thank you to OP for posting this - it worked for me (non store).
In the T&Cs it has "Listings that automatically relist during the Promotion Period are not eligible for this promotion."
Does this mean I need to untick the 3 free auto relist box when I do listings in May in order for them to be "free" rather than come off my monthly 40??

That line from the T&C's means that already listed items which relist are not affected by the promotion. (Though we all know that on previous promotions they have come off the promo free - a glitch eBay hasn't sorted yet).
So no you do not have to untick the 3 free auto relist box.
And as they are unlimited listings, just go for it!!!

So they don't want me to join in ... well I suppose that's ok.
Listings don't seem to sell anyway so it matters little whether they are free or paid for.
If you checked auto relist they'll get their insertion fees out of you eventually when your listing fails to sell beore 31st.
