Why do some sellers not leave you any positive feedback?

I don't get it. Some sellers leave positive feedback as soon as they receive payment (and so they should). I always do this when I'm selling. After paying, the buyer has done all there is to do, so why not leave them feedback at this point? I suppose there are a few bad eggs who make false claims for refunds, etc but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and why should the buyer have to be the first one to leave feedback in the transaction?

Another question - why are the coloured star ratings no longer displayed next to a seller's name?? I worked so damn hard to get my stars, I remember it took me years and years to get the green star, and now it basically means nothing?

You made me curious as I recently bought something and could not for the life of me recall what coloured star the seller had so I went to look. I do remember there used to be stars at some stage, but there don't seem to be any now. I had not even noticed they had gone.

i never quite mastered what each colour represented anyway & I agree with you, it doesn't matter.

I don't think most buyers would look. They may look at number and %  with feedback but that is about it.

I think the OP needs a stamp on the back of his/hers hand - good boy/girl - good grief.

You have a red star - it's right next to your feedback score.

I had to go searching for those stars. Took me a while to locate till I went to classic view of feedback.

My star was a blue sort of colour actually, but it doesn't matter as I hadn't realised I even had a star these days.😁

Can honestly say I have not noticed stars for years yet I look at classic view each time for sellers. I learn something new every day!

PS Just noticed that in here it is red, on the general ebay site it looks blue. Weird.

I had forgotten about the star thing so had a bit of a looksee. If its your '' lost and strays " ( not real name but you probably get it ) account it shows as a purple colour - not shooting when I view it. Not saying you are not seeing a red shooting star, just seems like the colour changes depending on who is looking. My main account has a green star. Not sure ( and dont care ) what that means either. I would have to check, but maybe 12,000 sales on that account. 99 percent feedback.

Re: Why do some sellers not leave you any positive feedback?

Star colours on the community pages are different to star colours on buying or selling accounts.

I think the stars shown on community pages are reflective of the involvement of the member (number of posts, number of solutions, number of kudos, etc.)... whereas buying/selling stars are based solely on feedback score
