Why is it being made compulsory for sellers to change to managed funds, stating that ability to relist or revise or create new listings will be blocked if we do not change over.
Surely you should have the choice to remain with paypal

I will miss eBay as it has been a great source of collectables HOWEVER if PayPal is removed from a buyer's payment options in 2023 eBay can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.
There are other options to find stuff aside from eBay and I will definitely looking into those.

Why can't you just buy directly using a credit card?
There was a time when Paypal was not compulsory and buyers and sellers managed just fine.

But did they manage just fine?
All my problem purchases on ebay were in the early days before paypal was compulsory.

It can't have been any worse than the problems many buyers and sellers have faced since the introduction of compulsory Paypal. These boards are littered with hundreds if not thousands of complaints against the company.

I was using paypal long before it was acquired by ebay....it was still called Confinity back then.
I have never had a problem with it....I even had a special phone number as a high volume user. The only major problem I ever had was sorted in 30 minutes....2 phone calls to payal and 2 to my bank and I had a double payment reversed.
So many people feel the only way to deal with problems is to create a major fuss with accusations flying. I have always found that to be counterproductive.

I prefer the protection of PayPal.
Fortunately I've not needed that protection too often, but when I have it has worked out well.
When I first signed up for eBay in 2006 I didn't have any credit cards so I didn't have a PayPal account.
For Oz sellers I would pay with Aust Post money orders and the few times I bought from overseas I did so through the bank which was quite expensive. LOL
Then I got a debit card and eventually signed up for PayPal after seeing a report on TV on how it works. The debit card is still the only card I have - I don't believe in using credit cards or buying items when I don't actually have the money to pay in full...and still be able to meet all my bills.
I do use the debit card sometimes for purchases outside eBay - if they don't accept PayPal - but PayPal is a quicker method and I prefer it. It's very efficient.
Thankfully I have collected just about every 'must have' item I really want in my collections - the rest are 'nice to haves' and since eBay there are now much more sources to find them. I like eBay, I still buy from eBay but these days I don't actually desperately need eBay. Many sellers who I have bought from now have their own websites. Companies have their own websites. Nowadays I often use eBay just to compare prices - and then buy from cheaper sources.

Agreed Zanadoo, eBay is no longer always the cheapest place to buy nowadays, and like yourself I'll get their prices then start looking elsewhere to get a bargain price.

For myself, I'm neither here nor there about PP and don't feel it offers anything more than what I can get with my credit card in terms of protection as a buyer. In fact I feel like my CC has more clout in terms of a dispute.
I have not had any issues as a seller with Adyen since I was enrolled in July last year.
There are lots of other options in the payments section now for buyers anyway, such as AfterPay, Apple Pay and Google Pay, which I believe have become hugely popular. I'm just glad that Ebay has opened up these various payment methods which encourages buyers.

I've got nothing against eBay opening up to different methods of paying. The more the merrier - but I personally do not want to add another method of paying to what I already use.
It's the withdrawal of PayPal that I think is a foolish decision as it is VERY popular, not the addition of more options.
Anyway I figure by Jul 2023 I will probably buy from eBay even less than I do now. 🙂

I like PayPal as a buyer, and thought it was fine as a seller, I rarely withdraw from it and just use the funds that accrue there for my purchases (I still offer it on my website, and about half the buyers there use it). I don't like using my credit card on eBay (though I have done so) because they automatically store it as a payment method and I really don't like that (there might be an option to stop them but I didn't spot it when I used it last, and I had to manually remove it after the purchase). I mostly don't like it because then it means there's nothing to stop someone purchasing items if they get access to my account - though I guess I can just use 2-factor authentication like I have with PayPal.
My personal feelings aside, however, the largest ecommerce site in the world has never offered PayPal, and they obviously get along just fine.
