Why does e-bay charge a fee on postage when you're using click and send through e-bay???

Surely when we use the "Print Postage Label" through e-bay, they can see the actual postage cost, and are aware that the amount paid is actually for postage and not to make extra profit. Yet they still charge a percentage of the cost for postage - leaving the seller out of pocket once again! If we use the Print Postage Label the fee should be waived!

That fee was added some time ago becasue dodgy sellers were selling and item for $1 and saying the postage was $10 and therefore only paying fees on the $1..

To recoup your fees on the postage now you will have to build the difference into your item price to cover that.

If you mean the actual cost of printing the label, then the added cost by ebay

is the fee for GST - an extra 10% and it's paid to the government.

They are providing a service, which is the S part of GST

Yes, but they can see that we're not dodgy sellers if we use the print label function - so why charge their % on the shipping cost???

Because they can and will try and extract every last Cent they Can from Sellers. However Buyers are NEVER Wrong.

Any seller who does not build their fees into the item cost or add a handling fee deserves to lose money.

If you price your items correctly then your buyers will pay your fees.....do you hear your buyers complaining?

because they want sellers to change their listings to “free postage” because their (questionable) research shows that buyers luuuurrvvvvvvvvve “free postage”.  Sellers would then need to factor the actual cost of postage into their pricing, therefore paying final value fee on the cost of postage because it is included in the price.

eBay charge fvf on postage to have a “level playing field” for sellers who have been paying fees on postage because they offer “free postage”.

If they waived the fee on postage for those sellers who only charge actual postage then those sellers would get a beneficial fvf compared to those that have “free postage”.

Well, this is what they told us when they introduced fees on postage some years back.

You then get Buyers saying you overcharge for postage!

You got that right - Sellers are treated with disdain; and Buyers are lauded!

I could have told you that 2 years ago.

Count yourself lucky in that you're still selling,I and others never got that luxury.

And I know of some very good sellers who have just been shown the door by eBay and it's terrible what eBay has done.
