You can't sell digital items on eBay Australia.

So you can.. (Link to the policy for anyone who wants to read it, many things are still on the prohibited list)
I wonder when that change occurred, as all digitally delivered items have been prohibited on eBay AU for as long as I can remember 😮
Did eBay say why the listing was cancelled, and have they taken any other action?

Hmmm, well there you go. They have changed it. I wonder if the OP had the statement in their listing saying they were authorised to see the code?
My main concern would be, did eBay refund the buyer? If they just removed the listing, without refunding, then it could just be a matter of setting up the listing a different way. Make sure all the i's are dotted and t's crossed.
I would have thought there would be a message in the "your item was removed" email. I know it was mentioned in mine several years ago when they removed one of mine.

It seems the eBay bots have'nt kept up to date with the changes ?
As you say, all digitally delivered items had previously been prohibited since Adam was a boy

You probably need to call them,(sounds like an error on their part as they allowed the listing and then removed
it after it was sold).
This gives you their direct links without having to go through their rigmarole,(the call options are at the bottom):
https://www.ebay.com.au/help/home
Just keep in mind that the Call option is only available during business hours,(8 am to 9 pm Mon to Fri and
8 am to 5 pm on Sat and Sun).
Have us call you seems to be the best option.

I would presume they didn't, as even when fraudulent listings are removed, the buyer still needs to raise a dispute etc to try and get their money back, though eBay do often make it sound (to the seller) as though they have refunded the buyer. I haven't had any listings removed for suspected fraud, but I did have a buyer report that a purchase on their account wasn't made by them (i.e. unauthorised use of an eBay account). eBay didn't remove the listing, but they did cancel the transaction, providing me a credit on the FVFs etc, however because the payment wasn't disputed, that wasn't refunded.
PayPal recently announced that seller protection was being extended to digital items and services, it was only a couple of weeks ago if memory serves, so this change may coincide with that, or perhaps the change was prompted (at least in part) by ebay's, but if it's all very new, I tend to agree with enigma and suspect some old systems (bot detections) are still in play and like you say there may be some specific keywords that for the time being need to be avoided.

My listing was removed because I mentioned a brand name when it wasn't a brand named item. Mr Tippy had bought a generic replacement key for his Holden Commodore and before he got it programmed, he sold the car. So, I tried to sell it. It was one of those things where while it wasn't a name brand item, it was only suitable for that type of car, so it needed to be mentioned.
No point listing it as "replacement car key". No one would have given it a second look when they would have been looking for one for a particular car. My guess is someone reported it because you see items listed as suitable for an iPhone, or Samsung, or something for a particular model car. None being those particular brands. Maybe it was the seller Mr Tippy bought it from that reported it.
As it turned out, eBay lost out because I sold it for 3 times as much off eBay. Serves them right. That gave me immense satisfaction. I paid no fees at all. Too bad, so sad! The buyer was stoked.

I suspect that policy only exists so companies like EB Games can sell those types of items on ebay as an "Authorised Reseller". If I bought one of those products and then tried to re-sell it unopened, I would risk having the listing cancelled because I'm not authorised.
