ebay done themselves out of sales...?

its all getting dreadfully boring here, when it should be one of the busiest times of year for sellers...

I know some of you might advise me to open a store, but I see many closing theirs down as they are not getting the sales.

clearly the advantage of most stores is you get unlimited or a lot more listings that the non store.

I;m sticking to my 40 "free" listings on both my ids, and yes that has impacted my sales some, but has forced me to sell via FB groups which I has averaged out to roughly a sale a day with no fees.

sad really having been here since 2005.  of course if Evilbay were to throw me freebies... I remember last christmas it was finishing up xmas eve.. - so when they were likely to get little people paying to list... I would not turn them down.

I think it must all be about those big corporations again.  last time I saw a thread on this I heard the ebay share price was still doing ok but I do wonder...

Yes -thats probably some of the problem for sure. Why dont they leave everything alone! And let things stay on a even keel for once!

From my experience that's half the problem.

People do not like to be fooled about with constant changes and having to relearn something that they were familiar with and that worked fine as far as they were concerned.

Change for the sake of change is extremely counter productive.

Buyers just want to be able to get on-site easily, find product quickly, make their purchase and get on with their lives.

If eBay need to reorganize their site then they should take the time to analyse what they need, produce an updated version, test it  thoroughly, then roll it out and leave it alone.

For quite some time it seems like the changes are more weekly than yearly.

Exactly!! They should let some momentum take hold -& stop fiddling with everything!! I think the only reason we're all still here is we see glimpses of what the potential could be !!, (or in some cases -what it was like!!). And in my case - I always think; as quickly as sales dropped... they could just as quickly pick up!! Smiley Frustrated Tho the longer we wait, the less I'm convinced of that. And it's really not fair if we've put effort into our stores/listings all year expecting at least a Xmas pay off ...& it doesnt come because of Ebay's constant changes (in part at least!)

Reason why sales are down.........

It is my birthday tomorrow and everyone is buying me gifts, I mean real gifts, big gifts, things that a girl can only dream of.  I have one of everything on ebay, that would be the things I can't sell, so......

I guess my friend (not plural) is shopping elsewhere.

Simple!

Happy Birthday! Mine is next week & last year Ebay sent me a $50 voucher with no strings attached. Just buy what I wanted (over the $50) & apply the code when doing checkout via PPal.

I'm not holding my breath for one this year!  I liked your reply; But all my friends seem to have dropped off the perch recently - So mine can't be shopping for my gifts as mine are now down to 0 alive!  & I'm not talking about those on my computer!

You could be my friend then I would have two.  Ebay sent me a voucher, spend $100.00 on ebay and I get an ice cream.

I would prefer a Mars Bar.

Happy birthday to Redders

I have read threads where people suggest the system is a bit rigged (which i totally believe) and small sellers may not have their items show up near the top in searches.

But I get the feeling maybe sales are down across the board generally because I was surprised to see an ad on the home page saying 10% off everything for 4 days. I have never noticed that before.

I presume ebay is picking up the tab on that one.

So maybe sellers will see a spike in sales over the next few days.

Even I am tempted.

I do think such a sale might do better though in July/Aug. At this time of year with Christmas coming up, I am not as prone to a splurge purchase although I might buy a gift.

Mind you,      every other website seems to be having big sales at the moment, or claiming they have, with lower prices etc. Black friday or some such thing? Never heard of it myself. It's not the 13th or anything.

Springy, there have been discount voucher ads on ebay for several weeks now....some are seller specific and they vary in the amount of the discount.....there have been 10%, 15% and 20% discounts.

I have had a great time taking advantage of the various offers and I have a list of things to buy from smaller sellers using the 10% discount with any seller.

I also have two 15%discount ebay vouchers bought on Groupon to be used by the end of the month.

A similar thing happened last year so this year I have been saving up to be able to take advantage of all the offers.

Springy - since 1932 Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving in the US.

Think the sales are on.
