has anybody else having a sales crash in oz ebay since the new year and experiencing no sales now

I sell on another id and have been a seller for 10 years and have experienced a huge downturn from $500 to $800 a week to now zero this week, buyers are scarce even watchers, ebay is useless in finding why, just says sellers are dependant on buyers-what if they have dissapeared like here? I am only giving it another few weeks to show something is happening beyond my control & will not have any money to pay ebay for my store and listers, any suggestions?

I agree, very quiet on the ebay front for sales.  Even when wanting to purchase items, there is not much selection.  Ever since the changes American Companies show up but with the cost of postage i look elsewhere

There is a huge amazon opening in nsw

Thanks for taking the time to offer a long term view, even if you did meander a little.

I've read all the posts, except those that went off topic.

I am in for the long haul, so I appreciated all the imput.

My sales are down, on average, but rather than a gradual decline, my sales are very up and down. Good January, February and May. Disastrous March, April and June.

I am a little concerned that so many contributors to this thread now have no items for sale. I wasn't exhaustive in my research, but I viewed 14 members of whom 9 have no listings. Unless these are just id's for forums, I find this disconcerting.

Very few of the forum regulars use a selling account on the boards.

Most have dedicated posting IDs for use on the boards, others use buying IDs here.

There is no reason to be worried about this.

So because you PERCEIVE they don't have the requisite experience, you are going to discount the facts?

According to you I don't sell much. In fact, going by feedback and length of service, I sell considerably more.

And my sales haven't crashed. They are a little bit (maybe 10%) down year on year, but that is more down to me than eBay.

As Lyndal has already mentioned, many sellers use posting id,s on the forums. I sell through three stores which are still achieving enough sales to keep me busy. One stand out sale this week was an antique book purchased at an op shop for a few dollars, sold for $400 a couple of days ago. While we keep hearing ebay is finished and sales are quiet, theres still plenty of life left and good money available on ebay if people are selling interesting and unusual items.

The daughter sells vintage & retro clothing on another site and has just had her best week of sales since she started, so the online shopping thing doesnt look like going away anytime soon. As always it all comes down to selling the stuff people actually want to buy..

Perfectly summed up.

Plenty of life left in this horse (eBay) if they would just stop tinkering with it..

You have got to have unique, interesting material that people WANT TO BUY.

Re: has anybody else having a sales crash in oz ebay since the new year and experiencing no sales no

Hi Retailers, I've been an Ebay member almost since it satrted. I've only ever made purchases rather than sales but think I can answer/address your question with helpful information. For the most part, buying on Ebay has been a good experience but recently, I've received either not received item, not received items as described or have to wait forever. For example, I'm a big bloke and need plus size underpants and so, I go to a "Plus Size" store on Ebay and make a purchase for some Mens Bonds Y fronts Size 32s to be precise. I've bought these from Ebay a number of times before without any issue. I paid a price I usually pay for the items but after a lengthy delay, I received some dodge Size 32 garments that were obviously meant for children! I take issue wit hthis by cntacting the seller and Ebay is n the loop. The seller says they'll send me a pair of the correct sized garments and for goodwill I can keep the children's underpants without having to send them back. I accepted this proposal however, the promise never came good and they still have my money. $56 for 3 paiors of children's underpants wouldnb't even fit my cat.... **bleep** and what a hasstle? This is becomming the norm! Scammers are **bleep**ing it up for buyers and sellers! The sellers are consumers also and I know they wouldn't like to be scammed either! It's only one example but I've got more and I reckon so does everyone else. I would also suggest that the GST now payable on small purchase items is killing this sales medium off. So m uch for freee enterprise and competition! The government has f'+++ed things up for everybody too!   Greed kills, Greed is evil!

Once is more than enough. And this relates to selling, how?

One bad purchase tars the entire selling community?

Save the paragraph.
