"wasting our time if not genuine"
Look out for posters who have given kudos to an eBay announcement.
Here's another two time wasters

And all questions about "account restriction" in the following three threads, are not real ,
just like the OP of this thread

And....they also asked the question in Community Spirit on Richo's thread - of all places!

So someone help me out here. What is the point?? I assume this is not the work of individuals. So it is an attempt by who? what? to negate, undermine, discourage useful advice which is being given on eBay discussion boards?

No idea.
It's above my pay grade.
It's just annoying to me.

They're hijacked accounts.
All accounts have had information added to their "About" page and all their profile images have been copied from readily available Google images. Check out the OP's.
Interesting to note the country / image / of the one on Richo's thread (hijacked) which brings up the real profile of
Kenya

Excellent sleuthing. But I still ask - why would these hi-jacked accounts be asking questions on eBay discussion boards?

When the first thread was posted (it's since been removed), it was in perfect English.
The poster said they were new and asked for tips on buying clothing and electronics.
No-one would have suspected a thing.
A couple of regulars gave excellent tips but when I queried them on their feedback , a reply to me said
"Marketing, thanks"
At that stage, it appeared to be market research and when Kenya came into it, even possibly AI related.
BUT when I started digging deeper and checked their images, their 'about' pages which indicated the items
they were about to sell, it looked like they were setting up the accounts to fraudulently list items.
Now I know they were 'testing the waters" on our boards to see if the accounts were still active and could
be used, because a few of the hijacked accounts have now had their locations changed from Australia to Brazil.
And beware everyone, some of the hijackers are online here right now
